I heard that sometimes if you have a cyst on your overy it can cause a pregnancy test to show up positive, is this true?
Ovarian cysts and pregnancy?
no pregnancy is a hormone all by itself theres no way an ovarian cyst would show positive
Reply:no, but it can delay your periods.
Reply:Dear Friend, You can get information and support at a pregnancy resource center, which you can find through optionline on the net, or call 1800afamily. Take good care. Sincerely, Runner

Ovarian cysts?
is there any medical person out there who can maybe put my mind at rest i am going to hospital tomorrow to see a specialist as i have a large cyst on my right ovary now after looking at the internet i am frightened because of my age it seems i could be looking at cancer ( i dont know the results of my ca125 blood test untill tomorrow) thank you
Ovarian cysts?
Theres a forum on Yahoo about those who may be having a Uturary Artery Embolization (i think its spelled) but its a procedure where doctors go in and block the blood that feeds the cyst and it causes them to shrink. Many people have cyst on their uterus you'd be surprised. Most are non cancerous. But I understand your nervous about finding out-I hope the best for you.
Check out the forum.
Reply:hi - had to add here. Best of luck for the future, I will keep you and your family in my prayers. xxx Report It
Reply:dont worry dear! they are common in us women!
ur gp mit have put you on the pill as it cures the cyst! but maybe age is against you...i know i cant take the pill as it would have side effects on me as i am 43!
Reply:Ovarian cancer is one of the rarest cancers around, but cysts are incredibly common, especially around menopause when your hormones are changing.
I had a cyst and had to do the CA125 test too (albeit I was 16). I had it removed surgically, and haven't had a problem since.
But really, the best thing you can do is get this sorted out as quickly as possible. The sooner you know what's wrong, the sooner you can fix it.
Good luck.
Reply:It would be rare that it would be ovarian cancer although you are at an advanced risk because of your age. I have had so many cysts I am 36 that i cannot count them.
It is good that you are monitoring the cyst and your doctor will be able to tell you what kind of cyst it is, simple cyst, hemmoragic cyst, complex cyst ect......you have a lot of hormonal changes going on which could cause this to be happening
Regardless it is something to be monitored closely by an ob/gyn...good luck my prayers are with you i know it is scary.

Ovarian cysts?
everyone keeps telling me to make sure it dont rupture? how am i soposed to know if my 2cm cyst ruptures? i'm only in pain when i push down on my lower right stomach, sometiems i'll get a sharp shooting pain for a second but it goes away. I've been seen at hospital, soposed to follow up w/ a ob/gyn and i dont have insurance and everyone said planned parenthood isn't a good place to go for this. im only 20 and this is all new, i have noone to talk toabout it

Docs won't do anything until the cysts become so large. You'll know if they rupture because you'll be in so much pain you want to die. They may put you on a BCP to help control your hormones, but that's really all they can do. Mine got to nearly an inch in size and the docs surgically drained them. Most of the time they do just rupture and life goes on.
Reply:I know that this is something you want to get checked out ASAP!!!! my girlfriends mother and sister have had to undergo hysterectomies because of ovarian cysts at the age of 29..... which will prevent you from getting preganant ever.... I'm no expert but it is something you shouldn't wait on... go to the hospital and they will work with you about payments and even suggest Access ( goverment assisted insurance)... best of luck
Reply:You are OK first of all
2 cm cyst is no big deal.
Don't waste you time with ob
they will not remove it unless it gets to 6 cm anyway.
Many women have cysts.
Hopefully, you don't have a change in your period or much excess cramping yet. If not, I wouldn't worry now
Reply:cysts on your ovaries are related to your inability to express your creativity. Does this make sense in your life at this moment? Go deep within and find the emotional basis of your cyst and express your creativity in your preferred form on a daily basis and you will dissolve that cyst quickly. The answer regarding the root of the cause of this imbalance are within you.

Bartholin cysts?
I got my first bartholin cyst abscess last year. After 2 trips to the hospital and 2 wrong diagnoses, I finally went to my gynecologist to find out what it really was.
Now, it has been back for a few weeks, although it was not infected. It is starting to grow slightly (its been hovering around the size of a large grape) and starting to get more sore than it was, which means it is probably getting infected again.
I had a catheter in it the last time and it kept it away for a year, but the hole has since closed up. I've tried breaking the skin that has grown over inside the hole, with no luck.
Can my midwife put in a new catheter, or will I have to go to my gynecologist to have it put back in?
I'm due in June, and I don't want to put it off too much longer...

Polonidal Cysts?
I have my first polonidal cyst...I am curious what kind of surgeon I should see a colon and rectal or a dermatologist.
Polonidal Cysts?
Normally a "General surgeon" takes care of this depending on the size. Usually you need to see your family dr first who will refer you there. Go soon, these can get pretty big and painful quickly if not taken care of.
Reply:If you have the option of seeing a colo-rectal surgeon that would be the first choice as they treat more of these than any other doctor, second choice would be a general surgeon.
Reply:a general practitioner should be fine - it is a simple procedure to drain and treat it most of the time.

Ovarian cysts?
Hi,i have been informed i have a 4cm functional cyst on my ovary, but why do i look pregnant, when it is only small?I have actually been asked by a work colleague if i am pregnant :(
Ovarian cysts?
Hey there. I really understand where you are coming from. My beautiful wife has P C O S Which is kind of the same thing and she got asked the same thing the other day. Your body tries to protect itself from the foreign body that is in you by surrounding it with ( dare i say it ) fat. This is just part of having ovarian cysts. Talk to your doctor and ask for as much information on the condition as possible.
I hope this helps You are not the only one in this boat.
My wife is very strict on her diet to combat this. She lost an amazing 6 Stone!!!

Ovarian cysts during pregnancy??
I've had a few before, and they were detected via ultrasound. I have a OB appt on the 3rd - if I tell her I think I have one, will she check?? I am in so much pain from it - I'm 100% positive that's what the pain is because I've had the before and this feels the exact same, right where my right ovary is at (which is where I always have them anyway.) Will she check for one? If she does, and she finds it, is there anything they can or will do for me?? I know they usually go away on their own but mine usually take FOREVER!!!!!!
Has anyone else experienced a ovarian cyst while pregnant? What happened with it?? Please help! Thanks!
I'll be 12w6d when I go in.

Ovarian cysts?
This might sound like a stupid question but my mom is giving me a hard time about going to Six Flags because I have a cyst on my left ovary, she thinks going on the rides might cause it to hurt or something ? Is it okay to go on rides or will the pressure cause it to rupture or something
Ovarian cysts?
It is perfectly ok to ride the ride at six flags. just cause u have a cyst doesnt limit your activity. I think your mom is trying to keep u from going cause she will miss u and wants to limit u in things u do. I have had tons of cysts in my life and enjoyed a healthy lifestyle and rode all the rides at disney world and enjoyed my self. if your mom is that concerned have her call your doctor for advice before she drives u and her crazy. hope this helps...
Reply:Yeah I agree with the other comment. Your mum is just concerned that if you go out and you do get alot of pain that she wont be there to help you out. Just remember mums are normally not out to stop you having fun but to keep you safe

Anyone have experience with cysts with your infant?
This morning, my dd's head was resting in my hand, and I felt this tiny little cyst on the back of her head underneath her scalp. It has to have just recently developed, b/c her head rests in the same spot every day while she's breastfeeding, so I think I would have noticed. I already made an appt with her dr for this week, but I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else... it moves around a little - is that good or bad with cysts? Any information would be helpful. Thank you!
Anyone have experience with cysts with your infant?
my baby is 2 weeks and 4 days old. she was born via a vacume n therefore has a cyst. it is calcium deposit. it should not increase in size. also get it checked by a pd. my pd told me its normal but keep an eye on it.
Reply:yeah one of my twins has a little one on top of his head. All the doctor said was if it starts to get red or infected looking to call her...leave it alone is all i can say

Porencephalic Cysts?
My girlfriend was recently diagnosed with a Porencephalic Cyst and we can not find much information about them. Can anyone help me with what treatment options there are for this? Also any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. It is causing her alot of stress since she cannot find much information about this and her neurologist appointment is not for another week or so.
Porencephalic Cysts?
The good news is that if the cyst was only recently found, your girlfriend is probably going to be one of the lucky people who have them without having problems from them.
The cysts usually happen during fetal development, so are most often a neonatal issue.
A pornecephalic cyst is a specific category of a larger group called arachnoid cysts. The "arachnoid" part refers to the composition of the cysts -- which are fluid-filled pockets. "Pornecephalic" refers to the location, which is the central nervous system (the brain, more-or-less on top of the spine.)
If it is not causing problems, the doctors will probably leave it alone, out of fear of causing more damage. If it's causing seizures that can't be controlled, the doctors will consider removing it.
I found this on the site of a neurologist from India:
------
More appropriate term may be 'hole in the brain'
Porencephalic cysts, characteristically, communicate with the ventricles or subarachnoid space and are covered on the outside by arachnoid.
These are congenital (primary) intracranial cysts and may arise as a leptomeningeal cyst.
It is possible that a failure of development of a part of the cerebral mantle may result in a cyst.
In addition to their congenital origin, porencephalic cysts may also arise as a result of trauma specially during birth or infancy when following loss of cerebral tissue adjacent to the ventricles a cyst forms and communicates with the ipsilateral dilated ventricle.
Puncture porencephaly is the development of a cystic cavitation along the track of a ventricular needle, manifesting in course of time, following rise in intracranial pressure due to nonfunctioning of the shunt in cases of hydrocephalus.
This may also follow prolonged ventricular drainage or repeated ventricular punctures.
Surgical excision may be considered in cases where these cysts are found to be the cause of intractable epilepsy. The area of excision should include the surrounding gliosed cerebral tissue as well.
--------
Good luck.
Reply:I researched a website:
http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/ate/neurology...
A porencephalic cyst is an extremely rare disorder of the central nervous system ( CNS ) involving a cyst or cavity inside the brain tissue. The cysts or cavities are usually the result of some injury to the brain following an illness or trauma, but they can also be the result of abnormal development. The condition can occur before or after birth, the diagnosis is usually confirmed by CT Scan or MRI or Ultrasound. The exact cause is unknown. The prognosis ( determination of the patient's long-term effects) for individuals with porencephaly varies according to the location and extent of the cyst. Some patient's with this disorder may develop hardly any noticeable problems and be able to lead a relatively normal life. Since I am not aware of her symptoms, this is what I was able to research. I hope that this helps and Good Luck.

Ovarian cysts?
I am 49, I had my uterus only removed in 1982. Now I have pain in my lower right pelvic area and some spotting. The blood scared me. The pain I have had for over a month and the blood just started a week ago. Is this a cyst?
Ovarian cysts?
When I read your question, I immediately thought cyst. Some cysts you don't notice, others can rupture and cause pain. Still others can cause pain and bleeding just by their location.
Since you have already had a partial hysterectomy, my advice is to call your doctor in the morning. The cyst could be growing and putting pressure on other organs or muscles. This is definitely not something you should sit on and wait to see if it goes away.

Anyone in australia know about Thornwaldt cysts?
I am trying to find help for a friend with a Thornwaldt cyst. It is not common and most doctors don't seem to or are unable to help her. Her quality of life is poor and as it is not considered life threatening she has basically been told she has to live with it. I have read they can be removed but the informatin I have read is from America. Surelly there is a doctor in Australia who can help her. Any information from anyone out there would be greatly appreciated. Helen

After doing a search on these kind of cysts I then did a search for the Australian Society of Otolaryngologists. I have included the link to the search I did that may help you find more information on doctors in your area that can help your friend:

When you get to the site check for a Contact Us section so that you can ask more specific questions as well.

Ganglion cysts?
i have a knot on my wrist ,went to the cuz i hit it at work.they said it was a ganglion cyst and that the pain would go away cuz i couldn't use my hand for a week.pain is constant,it goes up my arm, wrist, and hand. the other day i noticed another on my knuckle cuz it hurt. i looked on webmd but they didn't answer my question. if anyone else has ever had these, can you tell me what i should do cuz i can't not use my hand. do you think it could be something else. thanx in advance.
Ganglion cysts?
A ganglion cyst is a bundle of nerves forming a small little ball. It can put pressure on other parts around it and have pain or numbness radiate to other body parts. In your case, it sounds as if it is pinching on something in your hand/wrist area causing you to lose movement and have some pain.
There is nothing you can really do about a ganglion on your own. No ice or anything else will really help. You'll need to see a specialist, so you'll need a referral from your regular physician. If you don't have a regular doc, then go to a walk-in clinic and get the referral from them.
Good luck.
Reply:Egad!
A ganglionic cyst isn't a bundle of nerves. It is a fluid filled sack, usually attached to a tendon or joint. A bunch of nerve cells located together can be called a ganglion but that is not what a ganglionic cyst is.
It may or may not be a ganglionic cyst. You would have to go to a doctor to tell. If it is causing you this much pain and/or growing or multiplying then you should go to the doc in case it isn't a ganglionic cyst.

Ovarian cysts and womb tumors is this a serious diagnosis that require immmediate help or can it wait?
been to doctor with irregular menstrual cycle ( bleeding for 34 days) he diagnosis me with a cyst on my ovary and 3-4 tumors in my womb!!tells me if i dont feel better in a month come back to see him!~that he could stop the bleeding and make my periods reg but he cant put me on the pill bec i smoke!!
Ovarian cysts and womb tumors is this a serious diagnosis that require immmediate help or can it wait?
You should seek a second opinion ASAP, all woman get cysts with their monthly cycle some woman keep those cysts they can be painful and life threatening if they burst. The tumors should also be addressed immediately. Find a good OBGYN and get the first available appointment, don't forget to let them know what the other doc said and take your medical records with you. Good Luck!
Reply:I would seek a second opinion to be on the safe side. I had abnormal bleeding like that, but I was also bruising all over my body. Please, ask another health professional!
Reply:HAH! That is a crock of ****! Ovarian cysts can burst, and when they do they hurt like HELL! They can be removed though.
You can be put on birth control even though you smoke. That doctor just doesn't want to do it because it increases your risk of cancer. You could get a second opinion, and you should.
Reply:I had an Ovarian Cyst that ruptured and that was the worst pain i've ever felt. You need to get it removed before it ruptures. Or you'll be in the hospital with a Morphine drip.
You need to go to another doctor for a second opinion. Sounds very serious. Definitely something that needs to be taken care of. Tumors can be cancerous.
Reply:I assume that he is talking about fibroid tumours of the uterus, which are not dangerous, many women have them almost their whole lives, but can possibly cause heavy bleeding and/or some pain. I would be more concerned about the ovarian cyst. Some of these can be more problematic - if you have many, you may have polycystic ovarian syndrome which can cause acne, weight gain, facial hair etc.
Reply:Well, it seems that your doctor is a bit of a craphead. This is an EXTREMELY urgent matter, he shouldn't make you be waiting a month because this is all very important stuff.
Reply:I would get a second opinion. They should probably biopsy the tumors. I would think that the sooner they do this, the better.

Doxycycline and Minocycline on cysts?
I always get a annoying facial cyst near my nose every couple of months and cortisone injections usually put it away for another couple of months, but would using mino or doyxcycline work to stop it? I just have a develpoing cyst right now and I have started to use minocycline as it is really small right now, will it do anything? I don't want to keep getting it injected, plus I have to wait for it to get bigger for the injection.
Doxycycline and Minocycline on cysts?
It sound like a case of Cystic Acne...Doxycycline and Minocycline are preferred and safer antibiotics to kill of minor infection such as the ones that occurs on cystic acne... You may want to consult your physician on adding topical medication that prevent acne along with the oral medication.... But if this medication are not cutting it you may have to go to something stronger...But with stronger medication also come harsher side effects...

Ganglion Cysts (Bible Bump) problem...?
I've got what was assumed to be (after a short examination by a doctor) to be a ganglion cyst on the top of my right hand. It doesn't really hurt except when my hand is bent back at acute angles or when pressure is applied (such as leaning on a table). So, anyways, I was going to just let it go on and hope it went away, but today I fell on my wrist and my friend..fell..on..me and put a lot of pressure on my wrist and it hurt like hell (and continues to hurt minorly now). I've read that the old home remedy was to just bang it with a book (haha) and I'm wondering if this injury may have actually cured it or if i have just exasperated(sp) the problem...
Btw, you don't need to be a doctor, just your opinion(but if you are a doctor, say so ;-)
Ganglion Cysts (Bible Bump) problem...?
I have Ganglion cysts on both of my wrists for years. They can go away just a suddenly as they appear. Getting someone to smack it really hard with a book does work, but who do you trust enough to smack you with a book? You can get them drained by a DR or you can get them removed, but either way, they are likely to come back. If it is not causing you much pain, just let it be and one day you will wake up and it is gone. I have named mine! They can be broken. Popped mine once playing volleyball... hurt like all hexx.

Ovarian cysts and fluid?
Go get a 2nd opinion from another doctor if your still in pain. The cyst might have burst..They found cysts on my ovaries 3yrs ago %26amp; they just put me on birth control to regulate my periods and prevent me from getting more cyst.. Hope all goes well..

Can cysts be cancerous?
i have a cyst about the size of an eyeball. it is inches away from my spine. somedays it is very sensative and feels inflamed, and on other days the pain is very minimal. when i feel for it sometimes i can move it around and sometimes i cant. do i need to remove it? and can it be cancerous? i had my doc feel it but he said nothing...what good is he?
Can cysts be cancerous?
If it is truly a cyst then it is NOT cancerous nor will it become cancerous, it is just a fluid filled sac. However, cysts can be very painful and they can also become infected and turn into serious health problems if left untreated. If yours is not infected then it may just get reabsorbed on its own. If your concerned that it is infected, the following are warning signs of infection:
1. increased heart rate %26gt;100beats/min
2. fever %26gt;101
3. fast heavy breathing
4. excessive sweating, or chills
5. nausea or vomiting
6. redness, warmth, tenderness, and swelling around the site of the cyst.
If this is truly on your spine I would speak with a neurologist or neurosurgeon about it. That's a physician that deals specifically with brain/nerve and spinal cord issues.
Without a physical exam and MRI or CT it is difficult to tell exactly what it is you are dealing with.
If it is bothering you but not infected, it can easily be drained (stick a small needle directly into it and suck out the fluid); however, again if it is close to your spine this is something a surgeon/neurosurgeon would have to do, not your family doctor.
If it is infected you will need treatment with antibiotics and if you have some of the above warning signs I would go immediately to the doctor.
Good Luck

Health/cysts?
I have what I think is a cyst on the inside of my upper thigh and close to my genitals. It is small like a boil or a pimple. What is it? It recurs.
Health/cysts?
It could be anything from folliculitis, cellulitis, or hidradenitis suppurativa but why guess? Go see a physician to get an answer AND an antiboitic to fight off any secondary infection.
Reply:furunculosis... comes with sweaty hairy areas... like a small carbuncle... try a drying agent like alcohol... keep the area dry and use a powder, it could have an infected hair in it also....
do not manipulate it by squeezing. try hot compressed on it to try and bring it to a head and pop..
If it gets too big it will have to be lanced by the doctor....
You might need an antibiotic if they are recurrent.....

Having problems with ovarian cysts and whatnot. Help?
I'm 17. A month ago or so, I noticed this sharp pain in my right side. Id get cysts when I was younger, but I haven't for a while. I knew what it was right away, though. The ultra sound confirmed that it was 9 cm by 7 or 8 cm. I was horrified. Now, that cyst is gone but my left side is now hurting in the same manner as the right one was. I did another ultra sound, and the left ovary was clear. What's going on in there?
Having problems with ovarian cysts and whatnot. Help?
It is not unusual for ovarian cysts to be cyclic and appear at certain times of your cycle then disappear. I have had this happen lots of times over the years. Sometimes when they check I'll have a large cyst and other times nothing. As long as the doctors are keeping a check on you then I wouldn't worry. They may recommend hormones or they may not. Hope it helps to know that you are not alone!

Are Cysts during pregnancy normal?
Im 8 wks and i have a cyst on my right ovary that hurts really bad from time to time...could i lose my baby?!?!?
Are Cysts during pregnancy normal?
What has your doctor said about it? I have been told that usually cysts on the ovaries are not harmful to the baby, but they may do monthly ultrasounds to make sure it's not growing or putting any stress/pressure on the baby. I know someone who had one and it was painfull from time to time but then it just went away on it's own as quickly as it came. Trust your doctor, and most importantly, relax! That is the best thing you can do for you AND baby
Reply:At around 4-6 weeks, my OB did an ultrasound and said I had a cyst on one of my ovaries because of the pregnancy. I never had any pain though. If you're concerned about it, call your doctor.
Reply:No cysts are not normal, yes you could lose your baby! If you know you have a cyst then you must already have been to the doctor. I hope it can be resolved easily.
Reply:probably not normal but ive had a complicated pregnancy, 3 bartholin cyst, if you know what this is, its not pretty and not comfortable. Your ob will take all necessary procedures to make sure you have a happy and healthy baby. Ill pray for you.

Ovarian cysts?
I have been to the hospital now for two ultrasound scans because I have an ovarian cyst. It's on my left ovary. How can they tell if it is cancerous or not im just a bit concerned because I have cancer in the family. Im loosing sleep over it and the hospital won't tell me anything. I've got to go back now in six weeks for another scan.
All Advise it's much appriciated.
Thanks to everyone in advance
Ovarian cysts?
I had a lump on my thyroid gland and worried myself stupid , there is cancer in my family too.
I know its easy to say but you have to try and be realistic , they have treatment planned , share your worries with them , they are trained and there to help.
Mine was cancerous but quickly removed and now i take medication as my body no longer produces thyroxine.
from one who knows how you can worry good luck and share your worries with the dr/hospital
Reply:ask the Dr to take a sample as cancer is in the family=let him know that it is bothering you
Reply:A good rule of thumb is that if it was life threatening you would be in the hospital. If your doctor doesn't feel it's urgent youshouldn't worry
Reply:Hey, sweetie. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. An ovarian cyst is caused by an egg that was not released properly into the fallopian tube, and attaches itself to the ovary. Because it's not a "foreign" cell, the body doesn't react as it would if it were a cancer. I know I'm not saying this right, but I've been there. They are very painful, but will resolve on their own.

Reply:i have a cyst, dont worry too much i also have cancer in my family at the moment i am just having regular scans,to keep an eye on it, they are very common, and can sometimes just go away, i was very worried too, mine has not gone away,on the scan they look for any changes, if is is growing or changing in any way,or with luck shrinking, good luck but the hospital should be telling you more, the only thing you can do regarding this is to ask questions they will then have to give you answers, ask questions like, the size what sort of cyst do they think it is ,and any other questions that are distressing you, and good luck, i am sure you will be alright.
Reply:I have ovarian cysts, even though they can worry you, if it was anything other than a cyst you would be called back a lot sooner than 6 weeks for another scan. If its just a cyst 6 weeks is about right. I have had a couple of cancer worries and both have turned out to be nothing to worry about. The trouble is when we don't know we imagine all sorts. Wish you good luck, you should talk to your doctor who will be only too pleased to put your mind at rest.
Reply:I am sorry, you can't tell. The hospital should be much more open and informative, it is your body. You might get some help from your GP who may already have more info from the hospital, or he could contact them. Usually it is possible, with a fair degree of confidence, to tell by scan alone if an ovarian lesion is malignant or benign.
Reply:Don't panic the majority of ovarian cysts are benign. I went thought the same thing i had my ovary removed at 21 it was very scary but I'm 26 now with a gorgeous 5 year old daughter. Good luck and take care xxx

Ovarian Cysts or other reasons!!!!?
Why would a pregnancy test and a bladder infection come back negative and the doctors can only say to stay away from caffenine? They found an ovarian cyst on the right side that they say is really small and will go away on its own. But then why call and tell me a day after a pregnancy test came back negative to stay away from caffenine. Please help me I am getting irrated at the doctors because I still feel like crap and I have for over a month and I told them that.
These are the symptoms: tired, sore breast, heartburn, a period that lasted only two days and was very light which is not normal for me (I have been heavy for the last 13 years and pass tissue every month but not this month), hot sweats, nausea really bad, and feeling really sick and out of it. PLEASE HELP!!!
I would have conceived from August 22 to August 29.
Ovarian Cysts or other reasons!!!!?
Because too much caffiene can not only aggravate Ovarian Cysts, but it also is being linked to some of the causes recently. Many studies have shown that women who follow a caffiene-free diet, have had serious progress with their cysts shrinking. That is why it is IMPORTANT to stay away from the caffiene.
A lot of your symptoms described there can be explained by your Ovarian Cyst. There's no reason to be irritated with your Doctors as they have diagnosed you and are giving you the right information that you should truly follow.
If your tests came back negative for the bladder infection then you don't have one. But the cyst may be pushing up against your bladder causing similar symptoms. Honestly look up some information on changing your diet to help shrink the cyst but only follow what you check with your doctors on.
Reply:I don't think you're pregnant. The caffeine must make the bladder infection worse by dehydrating you.
The yucky symptoms can be from a bladder infection too. Take your medication and see how you feel after that.
------------------
Well, it must be the cyst then. Look up some info on cysts on the internet and see if caffeine causes them to increase in size or something. When you're pregnant the doctor does not make a point of telling you to stay away from caffeine. That is just too random.
Reply:If the doctor says it is a cyst and not a pregnancy he is probably right. I had two cysts at one point and seriously thought I was pregnant. After the first popped, and that's what it did, popped and released, I went in because I knew something was irregular. They did tests and said it was a cysts that had popped on its own and that I had another that would go away. The doctors were right, and after a month and a half of feeling pregnant, I went back to normal....Just hang in there...
Reply:If you were pregnant, the test would have shown it. The doctors probably did an ultrasound scan too when they found that ovarian cyst. If you want some additional proof, take a home pregnancy test. They might have told you to stay away from cafein because it tends to make people nervous and jittery and the symptoms you have might be psychological. I have also felt that way when I was very anxious about something. Are you anxious about getting pregnant?

Pilonidal Cysts...?
What kind of surgeon would you see to have a pilonidal cyst removed...colon and rectal or dermatologist. I am kinda confused about this since it is considered a skin disease.
Pilonidal Cysts...?
Unfortunately for me, it was an ER doc - no specialist. But I had read afterward that a good colon or rectal specialist is really the way to go. I'll say it was incredibly painful process, and it sounds like specialsts can certainly make it a much less painful process.

Ovarian Cysts????
Ok the Doctor Called me at home tonight about 5:30pm telling that he got my records from the hospital, and he told me that they are worried about a cyst larger the 5cm on one of my ovaries! What could this mean? 5 cm is pretty big right? Please give me answers!!
Ovarian Cysts????
It's about about 2 inches, which is big but not huge. Did he say how he wanted to treat it. Typically they put you on the pill first to see if it will subside on it's own. If it doesn't change, they may want to try %26amp; remove it through a Laparoscopic procedure. Either way, you will be fine afterwards. Hopefully, you will have an appointment soon to talk with your Dr. %26amp; discuss a treatment plan. Good luck!
Reply:I just had one that was 6 cm removed and they said it was pretty big. First they will probably watch it for a while to see if it gets larger or smaller. They told me most ovarian cysts are benign, so don't worry too much about cancer. If it doesn't get better, they may do surgery. They made 3 very small incisions and did mine laproscopically. I went home the same day.
Reply:Don't panic! Ovarian Cysts are common as a matter of fact, most women have them. I'm sure they are just being cautious.
Reply:Yeah I would have them laser it off or something cause I tell ya thats when they get ready to bust an That is the worst pain ive ever had in my life.. An it comes with no warning an brings you straight to ur knees...
Reply:My ovarian cyst was 13x9 cm large and my entire r ovary had to be removed, as it was the size of a very large grapefruit or bigger. They are pretty common and I am not sure if they can remove the cyst itself, but Im sure they could. You probably have PCOS or something along those lines, thats what I have.
Reply:I had a cyst but I don't think it was that big. The doctor didn't seemed concerned. I feel your pain Ohio_Girl. Mine burst in the middle of the night and I ran to my mom and told her I thought my appendix had ruptured! lol. It was HORRIBLE!!! My friend had a cyst that had to be removed when she was in her late teens..maybe early 20's. That was about 5 or 6 years ago. She gave birth to a beautiful baby girl a few months ago. It took a lot of trying at first but she finally got pregnant. Don't stress. You'll be fine. =]

Bone Cysts?
We just came from the ER, my daughter fell and apparently broke a growth plate in her ankle. She also twisted her knee and during the xray found a bone cyst....Does anyone know what this could possibly mean?
Bone Cysts?
DON'T WORRY ABOUT BONE CYST IT WILL DISAPPEAR AFTER 2 WEEKS.
MORE TO WORRY ABOUT IS FRACTURE IN THE GROWTH PLATE. GROWTH PLATE IS THE PART WHERE THE BONE GET NUTRITION AND YOUNG BONE GROWS. BONE GROWTH CAN BE LITTLE IMPAIRED IN THE FUTURE BUT NOT ALWAYS
Reply:The simple bone cyst is a common, benign, fluid-containing lesion, usually occurring in the metaphysis of long bones. The cause of the lesion is unknown.
Reply:I have a couple of those in my knee from a car accident years ago but they werent found until 2 years after the injury on an MRI. The doc said it was injury related. Did your daughter ever have a knee injury in the past? My doc said theres little they can do about it unless it starts to grow or cause problems because removal would be pretty invasive. Otherwise its nothing to worry about.
Reply:yeah my cousin had a bone cyst this year they remove part of the bone and replace it with a cudiver bone(i don't think i spelled it right but it's a dead persons bone)anyways he was fine after surgery and had a month of rehabilitation and was back to normal.
Reply:If the cyst isn't tangled up in arteries or veins, it can be operated on to remove it. My mom has one the size of a golf ball in her wrist from being a secretary for so long, I get them in my fingers. The old method of getting rid of them was to drop a large book (encyclopedia) on it. I got rid of the one in my middle finger from hitting a fastball at a softball game, shattered the whole thing. It's just a collection of fluid in the joints that has solidified. If it's not painful and isn't causing any reactions from your daughter I wouldn't worry about it. But they do grow and do become painful. Just Wait and see what happens. If she falls and smacks it really good it might just shatter and go away, if not surgery is your best bet!

Ovarian Cysts and Sexual Transmission?
I know someone with an ovarian cyst. Her boyfriend's ex girlfriend also has one. Can this be something that he caused through sexual transmission or is this just genetic?
Ovarian Cysts and Sexual Transmission?
An ovarian cyst has no relationship to any sexually transmitted disease.
Almost all women will have an ovarian cyst at one time or another. In most cases, they are small enough to go unnoticed, and go away on their own. Other times, they can grow big enough to cause pain and require treatment with hormones or sometimes even surgery. There can by a familial tendency toward ovarian cysts.
In some cases, ovarian cysts can be associated with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. There are many other associated symptoms. This condition can also be hereditary.
An ovarian abscess, on the other hand is generally the result of an untreated infection, usually an STD.
Reply:It is not sexually transmitted and it is not genetic either. Some women are just more prone to cysts than others.
Reply:yes u can get it from sex
Reply:Well HPV can cause cysts or cancer and yes they have found that if your sexual partners have had intercourse with someone previously that had HPV then there is a higher chance that you can get it. But it could also be genetic or many other things.
Reply:It is not caused through sexual contact..It can just happen, but a lot is genetic...I have two small cysts, and the doctor said it can be hereditary...
~side note~ love your name-I'm a terrie also!!~~(not many of us spell it that way!!)
Reply:NO, this is not sexually transmitted. Normally, a person with ovarian cysts has had them since or before puberty.
Reply:No this cannot be sexually transmitted. Ovarian cysts form for numerous reasons. The most common type is a follicular cyst, which results from the growth of a follicle. Usually, follicular cysts resolve on their own over the course of days to months. Hope this helps.
Reply:It can be sexually transmitted... that's why people need to use condoms all the time everytime.....

What Causes Ovarian Cysts While on Birth Control Pills...And Could This Affect Their Effectiveness?
I'm 19 years old, and I've been on low dose birth control pills for about six months now. Last month, I had to go to the ER because I had an ovarian cyst that had ruptured. I was just wondering what could possibly cause ovarian cysts while on birth control, when I'm NOT supposed to be ovulating? Also, is there a possibility that this could affect the effectivenss of the pill, or be an indication that it isn't effective? Thanks for the help!
What Causes Ovarian Cysts While on Birth Control Pills...And Could This Affect Their Effectiveness?
Ovarian cysts form when your ovaries don't release a mature egg. Fluid forms around the egg, making the cyst. There can be many reasons for this to happen. I think you could get the best answer from your doctor. Maybe the pill you are on is not a good one for you, and you need to be switched to another type.

Do you think Cysts on the brain are normal?
my daughter has been suffering from headaches for the past year, more increasingly the last few months, she has been given meds for allergies, which made it worse, her glasses have been strenghtened but nothing is helping, The pediatrician ordered a CT of the brain, and the result was a small cyst on the brain which she thought it was nothing to worry about. I am taking her to a neurologist , but still don't think cysts are normal, what if it bursts.
Do you think Cysts on the brain are normal?
Cysts on the brain are definitely not normal. If it bursts, that is actually a better thing than it not doing so. Anything that takes up space inside the cranium that is not your brain is a potential problem. Fluid can be absorbed, but a solid cyst can grow and cause pressure on the brain.
Because your daughter is symptomatic, I would take her to a neurosurgeon, not a neurologist. He/she will know what to do. It is important to find out what is causing the cyst. It could be congenital (born with it), or the result of trauma or infection. The neurosurgeon will be the best one to figure out what is in there and what to do with it.
Best of luck to both you and your daughter!
Reply:A cyst is nothing more than fibrous tissue that keeps creating new tissue over the same spot again and again.Usually due to a trauma to that part of the body. It has nothing in it but maybe a little tiny bit of water so it cannot burst. It could be putting pressure on areas of importance though which is why a neurologist is a good idea to rule out anything abnormal.
Reply:I don't think that anything on the brain that is not suppose to be there is normal. I would definitely have second or third opinions.
Reply:A cyst is a bag of fluid; and CT cannot visualize it well, rather get an MRI. Go see the Neurologist as the brain has no extra room to spare for anything. As such, a growing cyst would create headache!! Best wishes!
Reply:It is probably a colloid cyst, genetic in type, and no treatment is necessary unless the ventricles become obstructed with hydrocephalus.
Reply:Ask these questions of a doctor, not here. Good luck.
Reply:Cysts don't burst but they do grow bigger. I don't know why the doctors are not concerned unless it is inoperable.

Know about ganglion cysts?
I have been struggling with a ganglion cyst in my wrist for the last year. I saw a hand specialist, but he's so busy that the pain is gone and my x-rays are clear by the time my appointment rolls around. They cyst is not presenting as a swelling in the wrist, it just hurts like hell whenever I bend the wrist. Any suggestions on how to ease the pain, how to get through my daily activities when I have one, how help it go away faster, and prevent them from coming back?
Know about ganglion cysts?
I have one on my finger and i was told either steroid injections which only have a 40% thingy or operation (but it would probably grow back) or just leave it..
i have had mine for as long as i can remember - like over 8 years.. some do go away on there own though.
i can't bend my finger totally but it doesnt bother me much other than that..
go to your doctor again and stress how much it is hurting you and request an operation..
Do you actually have a lump there? if not then maybe it is something else?
the hitting it with a book thing - my doctor said it more of a joke than anything so i wouldnt try it if i were you unless you love pain!!!! O.o
Reply:you should have it operated on and taken out
Reply:This is NOT a joke.
When the cyst presents itself(swells out), then get someone to put a book flat against it, and WHACK the book hard!
It will hurt like heck for a few seconds but the cyst will be flattened out and rarely returns because it actuall gets busted.
Again, I am NOT joking as my doctor did this to a ganglion cyst on my wrist when I was about 25. Never had another.

What causes breast cysts?
I AM 20 YEARS OLD AND I NOTICED A LUMP IN MY BREAST. I WENT TO THE DOCS AND HAD AN ULTRA SOUND AND FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE A CYST. THERE IS NO HISTORY OF BREAST CANCER IN MY FAM AND I DONT SMOKE. WHAT CAUSES BREAST CYSTS????
What causes breast cysts?
Fibrocystic breasts occur from changes in the glandular and stromal (connective) tissues of the breast. These changes are related to a woman’s menstrual cycle and the hormones, estrogen and progesterone. Women with fibrocystic breasts often have bilateral cyclic breast pain or tenderness that coincides with their menstrual cycles.
During each menstrual cycle, normal hormonal stimulation causes the breasts’ milk glands and ducts to enlarge, and in turn, the breasts may retain water. Before or during menstruation, the breasts may feel swollen, painful, tender, or lumpy. The severity of these symptoms varies significantly from woman to woman. Some women only experience mild breast swelling during menstruation, while others experience constant breast tenderness. Because the condition is hormone-related, it will usually affect both breasts (bilaterally). Symptoms of fibrocystic breasts usually stop after menopause but may be prolonged if a woman takes hormone replacement therapy. While having fibrocystic breasts is usually not a risk factor for breast cancer, the condition can sometimes make breast cancer more difficult to detect. Therefore, in some cases, breast imaging exams, such as mammography or ultrasound, will need to be performed on women who show symptoms of fibrocystic breasts. However, screening mammography may be more difficult to perform on women with fibrocystic breasts because the breast density associated with fibrocystic breasts may eclipse breast cancer on the mammogram film. In some cases, additional mammography or ultrasound imaging, followed by fine needle aspiration or biopsy, will be performed on women with fibrocystic breasts to determine whether breast cancer is present. Fine needle aspiration (to drain large, painful cysts) may also be performed by a physician help relieve some of the more severe symptoms of fibrocystic breast condition.

Reply:My girlfriend had it. Don't know what causes it, but if the docs say its not harmful, don't worry about it! It's really nothing.
Reply:Breast Cysts are caused by estrogen dominance (too much estrogen). Synthetic artificial chemicals in our environment mimic estrogens that encourage breast cysts to form. Avoid these chemicals to get rid of breast cysts.

Oh and....[ovarian cysts]?
i read that a side effect for an ovarian cyst is weight gain :/
and i read that birth control pills prevent cysts.
but do the pills also cause weight gain?
Oh and....[ovarian cysts]?
An ovarien cyst will not cause weight gain. This is in no way related to the effects of your metabolism or anything dealing withy our appetite. My mother just had an ovarien cyst the size of a basketball removed, we bacome experts at this. The only thing that could affect you is the possibility of having the ovary totaly removed due to complications with the cyst. These would throw off a few of your hormones possibly causing weight loss or gain. Birth control risks your chance of cancer greatly in the future and it also is known to cause weight gain. Once again this is due to throwing off your hormones. Its not the cyst making these women gain weight its the effects its having on the ovary!
Reply:pills can cause weight gain but i think a lot of women just blame weight gain on the pill---i lost weight when i was on it but i had horrible horrible mood swings
Reply:the pills help prevent the cysts because they prevent you from ovulating which is the start of your cyst. Some people gain weight on the pill...But I lost weight on it so...Not all the side effects happen to everyone.
Reply:I questioned the same thing. I have ovarian cysts ..and YES they cause weight gain. It is not really the cysts, it prevents you from ovulating, which messes up your menstral cycle..which makes you not have your period. Also, polycystic ovarian sydrom messes with your pancreas and the ability to break down sugars..that is one of the main causes. Usually, they will prescribe you birth control to help your hormones, to make you start having regular periods. Along with that, they will prescribe you something to regulate your pancreas (Metformin, Glucophage). That helps you lose a little. I am not a doctor, but I live with it, and have for some time. The doc also told me cysts can break on their own.
Reply:I have PCOS and they put me on the pill.
Cysts do cause weight gain. Birth Control CAN cause weight gain, but with all medications, it effects different people differently because of their individual body chemistry and hormones. There are also many different types of birth control that you can try that will work differently. Talk to your gyno to see what you can do.
Also, the change in hormones may cause you to eat more. That is usually the cause of weight gain with the pill or other BC. If you are mindful of what you eat you shouldn't have a problem, and even more so if the pill itself makes you gain weight.
In my opinion, it is better to gain a little weight (don't get the BC shot, that makes you gain a LOT of weight... my Mom gained 40 lbs in a month... and a lot of my friends who tried it had similar problems) than to have the ovarian cyst. It can pop and you may need surgery or may not be able to have children one day, depending.
Good luck to you!
Reply:Weight gain with cyst can occur...Especially is you have PCOS. Poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Yes they will tell you to get on the pill cause it regulates the period and helps with cyst problems. Birth control pills for some people can cause weight gain and others it may cause weight loss. If you feel bad because of the cyst and this helps you will likely be more active because you feel better and therefore you will probably lose weight and a lot of people eat more when they hurt in their stomach and if you are experiencing pain with your cyst this could also cut down on eating but on the other hand if you don't have these problems there is a small chance you could gain weight but its only averages like a pound a year average. Talk to your doctor about options there are so many birth control pills.

Anyone else have these kind of problems with ovarian cysts?
I have had problems with this for quite a few years. Cysts i mean. But not like this. Normally when i have a cyst i can always tell on what side it is. But this time the cramping comes from the middle, but not bad, its more mild. But this time its bad in the lower back. Which i have never had with cysts. And the bloating is horrid. It looks like l'm around 2-3 months pregnant. I've spotted for 2 days here a couple of days ago. Everything points towards pregnancy but i took a test lastnight and it is negative. If I am, and with the belly that i do have, it should have been possitive. So the only other thing i can think it is, is ovarian cysts. But i've never experianced this before with them. So that is why I'm on here, just wondering if anyone else has these same symptoms, mainly the bloating this bad, with cysts?
I have also been losing weight, everywhere but the belly. I just don't understad. I am waiting to go to the doc because our health ins. hasn't kicked in yet.

I have had ovarian cysts in the past. I have also experienced bloat like you are describing. I went to the doctor and was told my uterus was enlarged. I was not pregnant. I had developed fibroids..... there is really no way to know for sure what is causing your condition with out medical test being ran.. I would suggest that once your insurance kicks in.. to go get checked out to put your mind at ease and try to get something to help you allevate the symptoms.
Good luck

What do ovarian cysts feel like?
I was diagnosed with a simple (functional) ovarian cyst (21mm) via vaginal ultrasound in August (found when I was having a miscarriage). I wasn't surprised because I had been having some shooting pains in my right side. The pains went away but a month or two later the jabs in my right side came back, but only during my periods. I had 3 pelvic exams by my OBGyn and ER doctor last month because I was worried sick, but they said they couldn't feel anything on my ovaries (and I am very thin) and not to worry. Now I am on cycle day 13 and have been getting the jabbing sensations in my right side (once in a while in the left too) constantly since a few days after my period ended. Is this what cysts feel like? Do you think it's the same one or a new one? I feel so worried. Please no websites, just real stories about your experiences! :)
What do ovarian cysts feel like?
I had one when I was 19 or so. It hurt but it didn't burst. It just went away. It was from a egg that wasn't released properly. I'm fine now. Ive had a beautiful healthy son. You could be ovulating. I thought I was getting another cyst and asked my doc and he said sometimes ovulation can hurt. Not massively painful mind you, just crampy and makes me feel off.
Reply:My roommate had an ovarian cyst and she described it as shooting pains up and then dull pain. She had one rupture and we ended up taking her to the hospital because of the amount of pain she was in.
Reply:That could very well be a cyst. I recommend that, since you are trying to become pregnant, you see a reproductive endocrinologist to ask if these cysts will interfere with your getting pregnant, and how they should be treated.
Reply:Cyst need a biopsy.so you know everything is fine.
If there's pain there's a reason so, go get another Doctor's opinion.Make sure you're not in harms way.In other words don't guess and worry just go for peace of mind. You know

I have multiple cysts on my overies does that mean i have pcos?
i have multiple cysts of 5mm on my right overy and 19mm cyst on left overy does that mean i have pcos plz tell me im very worried
I have multiple cysts on my overies does that mean i have pcos?
It is possible, but not certain that you have PCOS. While ovarian cysts are one symptom of PCOS, remember that PCOS is a syndrome. That means that it has a whole set of symptoms, and you don't have to have all of the symptoms to have PCOS. It is even possible to have PCOS without having ovarian cysts, and it is definitely possible to have ovarian cysts without having PCOS--in fact, many women have ovarian cysts while only 5-10% of women have PCOS. Other symptoms of PCOS include acne, irregular cycles or fertility problems, being overweight and having difficulty losing weight, body and facial hair growth, thinning scalp hair, skin tags, and/or dark patches of skin. If you have PCOS symptoms or if you're still worried, ask your doctor to check your hormone levels and insulin function to see if you may have PCOS.
Reply:PCOS has many other symptoms, Most likely you would have it. Doe you have any other symptoms? Maybe you can get all your hormones tested, because if you catch it early you can prevent the other ones form getting worse!!!
Reply:It definitely is a symptom of PCOS........ask your doctor and do some research. It's very possible and it's best to know now if you're TTC. Good luck
Reply:PCOS has a very specific number of symptoms, not just cysts. You could be tested by your gynecologist if you are concerned, and talk to her about PCOS or other symptoms you might have.
Reply:ok, if you have cysts and the dr. told you the size of the cysts then he/she should of done more tests to see why your having cysts, but cysts is not the only sign of pcos another sign is not ovulating and being over weight or under weight and you can have insulin problems too! but cysts can dissolve on there on, they want stop you from getting pregnant if that's what your worry about, good luck

What are liver cysts and how do they affect you ?
I recently underwent gland removal looking for cancer in my lymphatic system while doing Mir scans and ct scans they found a number of cyst in my liver the surgeon told me not to worry they would keep a check on them once a year by ct scan. What are LIVER CYSTS?
What are liver cysts and how do they affect you ?
liver cysts ,a cyst is a fluid filled space within a tissue lining ,liver cysts are derived into ,,,1)congenital 2)acquired ,,and the acquired could be due to many causes like infections ,e.histolytica, hydatid cysts ,trauma,of course the classification is wide and many varieties these are just some of them ,the importance of the cysts is their pressure effect on liver tissue, they can induce also blockage of bile secretions ,atrophy ,options are wait and see as long everything is fine like your case ,or surgical removal ,or drainage ..and therapy for related infections if any
Reply:I often get uterus cysts, and they form because of the pill Im on. Its a build up of fluids which normally get absorbed back into the body. They can be painful sometimes if I poke my belly in the right place.
I assume liver cysts are the same. Not too serious, and they do come and go.

Cloudy Urine...Ovarian Cysts...PLEASE HELP!?
Okay so long story short.....about a week before Christmas I was having really bad lower abdominal pain. Found out that I had a complex cyst on my left ovary. Doctor said it was common in women my age..not a big deal..as long as I'm not in pain it will most likely go away..and to follow up in a month with my regular OBGYN. So ....the pain went away I thought it was all good scheduled an appt. with my dr. for the end of this month as a follow up.
BUT NOW...the past two weeks..the pain is back..not too bad but its there just like before ...just on the lower left side. And now when I go go the bathroom my pee is kind of cloudy. There is no pain when I pee or discoloration...just kind of cloudy.
Has anyone experienced this? Could it be b/c maybe the cysts came back...or it is it something completly different?? I drink lots of water so the cloudyness isnt b/c im dehydrated. Please let me know if you have ever experienced any of the above. THANKS!
Cloudy Urine...Ovarian Cysts...PLEASE HELP!?
you mean you have POS(policystic ovarian syndrome)?, if thats what you mean, i have the same case.until now.its in both of my ovaries. my obgyne said its because i have irregular period(since 12yrs old i am irregular) means i have hormonal imbalance.thats why i have to take contraceptive pills to regulate my period evry month. i am currently taking medications now for my POS. but for me, i am not experiencing any pain in my upper or lower abdomen even before my obgyne had to do ultrasound on me and found out i have that case, its just a routine check-up for me, but the last time she found i have POS.she said it is curable and nothing to worry about, as long as i'll have proper medications and regular check-up to see if there is any improvements going on,and when my period regulates, my POS will most likely to go away. but what she said that if its left untreated, i may have difficulty to get pregnant.(i really hope not, i still want to have kids in the future ofcourse.im 27yrs old now, but still not married) by the way, i also dont have cloudy urine.i think if you have that, and you have pain in your lower abdomen, it might be some infection.so you must see a doctor to examine you. women are prone to infection like U.T.I because we have a shorter urethra than men. anyway, i hope you will get well soon.i know we will. good day!
Reply:Go back to the doctor and let them know. It very well could be an infection.
Reply:are you on any antibiotics? they make urine cloudy,so it's not something to get scared about really.
Reply:Cloudy urine should have nothing to do with your cysts. This is a symptom of a UTI.

Surgery of ovarian cysts??!?
I had some cyst removed when I was about 17 and I had another rupture in my early 20's and now I'm a OB/GYN nurse. The surgery should make your periods more regular and less painful. If you are nervous about having any medical procedure talk to your Dr about it and they should be able to give you all the information you need.
Reply:I've never had one, but I know for a fact that cysts sometimes cause irregular periods, but not the other way around.
Reply:i had an ovarian cyst about a year ago, and was going to have surgery to remove it. i got "lucky" -- mine ruptured and surgery wasn't required. but from the research i did, and talking to my doctor, i didn't get the impression that it would involve a lot of pain afterward... and other women i spoke to who'd had it done just reported feeling a lot better afterward.
sorry i couldn't help you more... but your doc should be able to answer those questions better for your individual situation (everyone is different). good luck in surgery -- a fluid-filled cyst is minor, and it sounds like you should be just fine. :)

Cysts question?!!?
I have a cyst on my left ovary.
If it doesn't burst then will surgery be necessary?
How does it feel if it bursts?
What is surgery like and is there any recovery time?
Thanks! =)
Cysts question?!!?
Every woman gets cysts occasionally called functional cysts. A functional cyst is just built-up fluid in the ovary. It is normal most of the time. It is caused by ovulation. The cyst should shrink but in 1-3 months if it is still the same or bigger a doctor may do surgery (if it is a serious matter) or give birth control pills (to hold off ovulation for awhile to see if it will shrink). In most cases nothing has to be done and the cysts will go away. There is also a disease called polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). 5-10% of all women in the US have this disease. If you have this disease you will have many cysts on your ovaries (only detectable by laparascopy or ultrasound). I have this disease. I had had cysts every year at my pap smear so finally when we were trying to conceive my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS. Other symptoms of PCOS are excessive growth of hair, acne, diabetes, obesity, and

Reply:When a cyst ruptures, it hurts like crazy, you just want to stay in the fetal position and not move. Standing and walking are painful and well so is basically anything you do for a couple days. It happened to me when I was off at college and about to start summer school. I didn't have to have any surgery, but that's because there wasn't anything in the cyst that they felt needed to be removed and it wasn't causing any infections.
If your cyst doesn't rupture or go away on its own and it is causing problems, then surgery might end up being an option, but for now, I'd wait it out and monitor it to make sure that it isn't growing or anything.
I hope that you're feeling better soon.
Reply:I am not a doctor, but I have had those...if they don't go away they can cause permanent damage..my female gyno showed me how to burst them on my own..it doesn't hurt when they burst...aggressive sex on that side is another way( and alot more fun)
