I have been struggling with a ganglion cyst in my wrist for the last year. I saw a hand specialist, but he's so busy that the pain is gone and my x-rays are clear by the time my appointment rolls around. They cyst is not presenting as a swelling in the wrist, it just hurts like hell whenever I bend the wrist. Any suggestions on how to ease the pain, how to get through my daily activities when I have one, how help it go away faster, and prevent them from coming back?
Know about ganglion cysts?
I have one on my finger and i was told either steroid injections which only have a 40% thingy or operation (but it would probably grow back) or just leave it..
i have had mine for as long as i can remember - like over 8 years.. some do go away on there own though.
i can't bend my finger totally but it doesnt bother me much other than that..
go to your doctor again and stress how much it is hurting you and request an operation..
Do you actually have a lump there? if not then maybe it is something else?
the hitting it with a book thing - my doctor said it more of a joke than anything so i wouldnt try it if i were you unless you love pain!!!! O.o
Reply:you should have it operated on and taken out
Reply:This is NOT a joke.
When the cyst presents itself(swells out), then get someone to put a book flat against it, and WHACK the book hard!
It will hurt like heck for a few seconds but the cyst will be flattened out and rarely returns because it actuall gets busted.
Again, I am NOT joking as my doctor did this to a ganglion cyst on my wrist when I was about 25. Never had another.
