I know someone with an ovarian cyst. Her boyfriend's ex girlfriend also has one. Can this be something that he caused through sexual transmission or is this just genetic?
Ovarian Cysts and Sexual Transmission?
An ovarian cyst has no relationship to any sexually transmitted disease.
Almost all women will have an ovarian cyst at one time or another. In most cases, they are small enough to go unnoticed, and go away on their own. Other times, they can grow big enough to cause pain and require treatment with hormones or sometimes even surgery. There can by a familial tendency toward ovarian cysts.
In some cases, ovarian cysts can be associated with PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. There are many other associated symptoms. This condition can also be hereditary.
An ovarian abscess, on the other hand is generally the result of an untreated infection, usually an STD.
Reply:It is not sexually transmitted and it is not genetic either. Some women are just more prone to cysts than others.
Reply:yes u can get it from sex
Reply:Well HPV can cause cysts or cancer and yes they have found that if your sexual partners have had intercourse with someone previously that had HPV then there is a higher chance that you can get it. But it could also be genetic or many other things.
Reply:It is not caused through sexual contact..It can just happen, but a lot is genetic...I have two small cysts, and the doctor said it can be hereditary...
~side note~ love your name-I'm a terrie also!!~~(not many of us spell it that way!!)
Reply:NO, this is not sexually transmitted. Normally, a person with ovarian cysts has had them since or before puberty.
Reply:No this cannot be sexually transmitted. Ovarian cysts form for numerous reasons. The most common type is a follicular cyst, which results from the growth of a follicle. Usually, follicular cysts resolve on their own over the course of days to months. Hope this helps.
Reply:It can be sexually transmitted... that's why people need to use condoms all the time everytime.....
