Hospitalised for a week nowing not much till test resulted to ruptured ovarian cyst...laparoscopy????

Not knowing what was happening untill i was hospitalised for a week and on regular pain relief, I am now being sent to a surgeon to find out whats happening. Maybe in need of a laparoscopy to find out more. I am 24, got a 2 year old little boy and want more kids but am in fear of never having them again please anyone who has had this before answer me these questions....

Will I ever be able to have kids again?

Does a laparoscopy hurt and will it do any damage later in life?

Laparoscopy is an outpatient surgical procedure. It is done to check for cysts but also to see if a woman has endometriosis going on. Yes, it will hurt afterward but with good pain medicines from the dr the pain can be kept to a minimum.

My advice for after this surgery when it comes to food is to eat as lightly as possible for the first few weeks especially because the stomach muscles will be very, very sensitive because of what was done.

If you do have endometriosis (just using this an example) the dr can remove as much as possible during the procedure which will actually greatly improve your chances at trying to have more children. The best time for concieving is in the first 6 to 12 months after a laparoscopy.

There are risks with any kind of surgery including laparoscopy such as having scar tissue because of the surgery itself but they have things that can be used to minimize the potential for scar tissue build up that are applied after they do the other part of the surgery.

To learn more about endometriosis (and I think there's also some info about laparoscopic surgery on there as well) please check out: http://www.endocenter.org

If you have other questions please feel free to e-mail or IM me any time.
