Im barely 15 years old and i have been diagnosed with an ovarian cyst?
Are you seeing a doctor? Its important to know what type of cysts you have that way you can get proper treatment for it.

Every woman after puberty gets them. Every gynecologist feels them. Thankfully, most of them don't really matter at all. You can suugest to your parents and doctors going on a birth control pill. Cysts can be melted away usually with the temporary use of birth control pills. The pill works by suppressing ovulation and therefore the cysts that may develop from it.

Pre-cancerous cysts don't go away with birth control pills, so a failure here may indicate that there's something more dangerous than a functional cyst. This is when gynecologists start discussing laparoscopy to either make a diagnosis or to shell it out, saving the ovary it's in if possible. A test called "CA-125" is a blood test that could raise the index of suspicion if abnormal. And ultrasound is helpful to indicate whether the cyst is a simple sack (encouraging) or complex (worrisome).

Family history also plays a part in how aggressive a doctor may be. If a patient's mother or sister had cancer of the ovary, we worry over any cyst, resolved to prove it functional or not. A family history is when things start to get a little creepy, because one out of seventy women will get ovarian cancer; but if a mother had it, a daughter's chances are anywhere between one in twelve to one in twenty. If two close members of her family have it, the chances can get as ridiculously high as one in two! No wonder we worry.
Reply:make sure you are being followed by a dr- they will monitor the cyst- tell them of any changes (increased abdominal pain) lots of people get these- its good to be followed by a dr in case they get big or you get lots of pain***
Reply:Don't be scared, ovarian cysts are quite common. Just make sure you are talking to a Dr. about it. You can even call a nurse line if you need some re-assurance.
Reply:It happens a lot to young women. They will often resolve. I had them as a teenage and now have no problem as I approach my 30s. usually they but you on birth control pills which help a lot. dont be worried or scared!!!
Reply:You might have more than one, or you might have another problem, like endometriosis. Keep talking to your doctor, and make sure you find out what's causing your pain.

I'm sorry you are in pain--I had one burst awhile ago and it was the worst thing I have ever felt. Good luck with your investigation, and don't lose heart.
Reply:Okay- if you've been diagnosed, you'll be okay. The cyst could disappear within a month. If not, your doctor will remove it. He or she will put you under general anesthesia. He or she will make a small incision above or below your bellybutton and will use a small tool to remove it. It is not considered a high-risk procedure, so don't worry. Once it's over the pain will be gone.
Reply:I know this sounds easier said than done, but don't worry. If you are seeing a doctor like you should, and letting them monitor any changes, then you will be fine. I had a friend when i was 12, she was the same age, and she was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst, she had to be out of school for about a week after she had surgery to remove the cyst, she was fine and the pain went away. I know that it is scary, because you are so young, but the more educated you become about an ovarian cyst, the more likely your fears will cease.
Reply:i had mine removed last november by surgery..but i had to get mine removed asap b/c its was very large (12cm) i was 16 then and i pobably had it when i was your age...but from what the doctors have told me they are normal...
