I'm 34 y.o. and have an ovary removed bc of a cyst when I was 20 yo. Will I have trouble conceiving?

I have heard both possible explanation - 1) since you only have one ovary you produce eggs every other month so you'll have only 6 times a year when you can conceive or 2) no problem since the only ovary will release an egg every month. I do have my period regularly every month.

When you have two ovaries, they usually alternate with each other. When one is missing, the remaining one usually starts to do the job 100%. You should be able to conceive just fine when you are ready.





If it doesn't happen right away (or within a reasonable amount of time, I should say) then see your doctor. It could be that you're not ovulating. But, please know that LOTS of women (even with TWO ovaries) have trouble ovulating, so it's not an uncommon problem. If this even happens to you, the doctors can give you medication to help you along.

Reply:I don't know what the scientific answer is. But my girlfriend had a cyst removed when they had to deal with her ectopic pregnancy - so she had one ovary and a damaged fallopian tube. That was late February 06 - she got pregnant in June 06. Her son was perfect. So I guess yes you can get pregnant fairly easily. However, if you have problems, it's most likely related to the missing ovary.
Reply:When my daughter was 15 years old she was told she would probably never have children because when her egg came down it turned into a cyst. Believe it or not she has 3 children now, 13,12,and 11. I think you will do fine. If you have a question about it ask your doctor. Miracles happen everyday. Reply:I'm turning 21 and last year I had one of my ovaries removed because I had cysts on it that I guess burst and so they had to remove the ovary. After the surgery, I had my period regularly every month because the left over ovary does the job of the one thats not there. Well my biggest fear after this surgery was not being able to conceive. Everyone told me it would be difficult and so I was anxious to become pregnant before anything happend to my other ovary. I became pregnant four months after my surgery last year and just gave birth to a little girl in february of this year. Miracles happen but conception is possible!

When an ovary is removed, the other one ' takes over 'and produces the ' egg ' every month.


My sister had an ovary and tube removed, and had 4 babies in 4 1/2 years, 3 conceived while breastfeeding! [ 2 boys and 2 girls! ]


I know several other people who had babies with only one ovary.
Reply:Being a healthy person physically and emotionally is generally a great factor in planning to conceive a baby.





Women has two ovaries and as in many cases where one has been removed, conceiving is not at all in a troubled water.





Timing is everything. Not just because you now you are in a conceiving time of your cycle doesn't necessarily mean you have a high percentage of making it. During the act of making the baby, the mental phase should be motivated to 'like it' (concept of the sperm and the husband as a partner in making the baby). The body should be in great shape. Nutrition and exercise is a big factor as sometimes over or under weight and/or nourished women have extreme chances of not making a baby.





My mom had her ovary removed right after giving birth to my sister and yet she was able to conceive 4 more. One of my aunts had her myoma/cyst operation when she was only 16 and yet was able to make a boy and a girl. Lots of our friends also have an ovary removal and still was able to conceive.





But of course, the greatest of them all is to keep in mind that a baby is a gift from God and therefore do not forget to ask Him about it with all sincerity.
Reply:My mom had the right ovary and the left tube removed and was told she would probably never have children since the released egg would have to cross over to the remaining tube. In a 14 years span she conceived 9 times -had 2 early miscarriages %26amp; lost twins at 6 months and had me and my 2 sisters and 3 brothers.


I concived my son at 40 after tring for 8 years through 3 realationships. I ended up having a c-section and they found a cyst the size of a grapefruit on one of my ovaries. The Dr. said that was probally why it took me so long to concive . the cyst was probably tiny before I got pregant but it was making that ovay not ovalate so I only was able to get pregant every other month. The fact I was able to get pregant with only one working ovary and at 40 beat all kinds of odds . Best of luck
Reply:definitely not, then your chances will increase to get conceive with one ovary.. instead of ovaluting one month from one ovary another month from another ovary.. you could ovalute from same ovary every month.. goo luck
