A mash-o-gram (as my wife calls them) is in fact an x-ray.
If you are thinking of a chest x-ray, then a mamogram shows only breast tissue and not the thickness of the chest. Therefore, there is more things that can be seen by the radiologist.
A cyst is a sac that contains fluid or semi-solids--perhaps an encapsulated infection.
A fibroid is usually associated with the uterus--a benign thickening of the muscle wall----I'm no doctor, but i don't think breasts have fibroids.
And cancer of the breast can be either malignant to varying degrees or benign---the whole reason for a mammogram. The earlier a cancer is detected, the easier to treat and the more likely a successful treatment.
