My friend is curently 6 weeks pregnant and her one breast is a lot bigger than the other. I have had cyst's in my breast before but they don't feel like what I had my knots were a lot smaller and hers are kind of large knotted area's but mostly in the side that is the biggest is this normal? Her first Dr.'s appointment is on the 18th and she does intend to go over all of that then so please don't be rude when you respond she would just like to have a head's up before her appointment. Would you suggest soaking them in warm water?
Cysts Or Breast Change Due To Pregnancy?
Some girls breasts will develop in this way, one before the other and some have one breast that doesn't develop at all. I would guess that her body is just adjusting to pregnancy and the other will catch up. Make sure you have her address this w/ her doctor. Also, self breast exams are a good idea but can be more confusing when pregnant. Warm water will probably not help.
Reply:Your friend needs to be sure and ask her doctor about her breast changes. She probably had the cysts before getting pregnant. If warm water makes her breast feel good, then it would be okay.
Reply:She definately needs to talk to the doctor. Pregnancy hormones could be making the cysts grow rapidly and it is not unheard of to find out you have breast cancer when pregnant. I don't mean to scare you but it is something that should be taken seriously. Just because you are young or pregnant doesn't mean you are safe. It could also be blocked milk ducts, but make sure they take her complaint seriously and do proper testing to make sure.

Cysts On Eyes...?
I'm starting to get a cyst (sp?) right near my tear duct. I've had these before and I never know how to get rid of them or stop them from forming. They're pretty painful. Do any of you have any ideas?
Thanks!
Cysts On Eyes...?
That's a sty, it sounds like. It's like a little tough, painful pimple on the edge of your eyelid. The grow because you are touching your eyes with your hands and your hands usually have some sort of dirt and oil on them.
Don't touch it! I know they hurt and are so uncomfortable (it feels like there is always something in your eye and you can't get it out?). Also, get a clean washcloth wet with hot (but not too hot!) water. Hold it to your eye 4 or 5 times a day. It's soothing and it will help clear it up faster!
Reply:I'm not sure, but you should add the cyst to your avatar's eye. You need to be realistic.
Reply:i've had these before and the doctor told me to keep putting warm compresses on them and if they get bigger go to the doc, also wash around area with baby shampoo
Reply:omg!
i have one too except it on the outer corner of my eye.
i went to the doctor a couple weeks ago and they said i might have an allergy or it got irritated somehow, but they gave my benadryll. and it went away for a while but now its back
so try that and see if it works.
also maybe you arent getting enough sleep?
Reply:I've had one in the same area off and on over the years. The doctor gave me a prescription for a cream to apply on it; so, you can try your doctor if you haven't already and keep the eye area clean. Apply a warm cloth on it.

Cysts surgery?
If you're getting surgery to get your cyst removed, and they run tests on the tissue from the removed cysyts %26amp; there is an infection-do they take out to ovary just to be safe?
Cysts surgery?
No.
During surgery, the tissues that are removed might be checked for cancer, if your surgeon thinks there is a possibility that cancer is there. All other testing takes days, so nothing else can be done at the time of surgery.
If the surgeon has reason to believe that the ovary needs to come out, he/she should discuss that possibility with you prior to the procedure. It is usually listed on the surgical consent as a possibility if there is a reasonable chance that it will happen.
Infections can be cured with antibiotics, so that wouldn't be a reason to remove the ovary anyway.
Good luck!
Reply:It depends on what they find when they get in there. I had a very large ovarian cyst removed about 20 years ago, it was so big that they had to take the ovary and fallopian tube. It was borderline cancerous. I still have one ovary and tube in tact and get my period every month (even had it while I was in the hospital for the surgery)! You should go see your doctor for a pre-op consultation and to sign papers. This is where they will go over the procedure and the possible consequences. Make a list of questions to the doctor at this time. Best wishes!

Cysts on Ovaries?
My girlfriend has developed a simple cyst about 1.9 cm on her right ovary. Just how serious is this? Could it grow or keep spreading? What can i do to help? This whole thing has me pretty worried.
Cysts on Ovaries?
The ovaries develop small cysts each month, but they shrink by themselves through the monthly cycle. Her cyst is pretty small right now and it is possibly just one of those monthly ones. However, there is a possibility that it could continue to grow and rupture once it has gotten larger~that is pretty painful but not life threatening. Many women get ovarian cysts that grow beyond the normal size and if it continues to worry both of you ~ her doctor can do an ultrasound in a few weeks and that way you will know if it is still there and getting larger or it disappeared on its own! I suffer from them regularly and the first time I had one rupture they thought that it was appendicitis~this is how I found out that I had them! Also, a lot of different birth control pills help block the growth of cysts (even the montly ones sometimes) due to the fact that the pill stops ovulation and this is what makes the cyst in the first place.
Reply:This is a common malady among women. It can cause quite a bit of discomfort, and if it bursts it is VERY painful and she may end up in the ER, but it will not led to surgery, they will only be able to give her meds to lessen the pain. But once it bursts, it is over - no more problems.
Good luck to her,
c-ya
Reply:It is very common, alot of women have them. Usually they increase in size around a womans ovulation time, and then shrink back down after it. If she is worried have her go see a gyn.

Can someone help explain to me about cysts?
This was given to me to follow up with a ob/gyn from the hosptial radiology department, this was a fax from the ultrasound to the doctor
Exam Results: trace amount +free fluid ( think this was for the bladder infection?)
4mm endometrial cyst from focal ademomyosis. Numerous on (Right) ovarian cyst + larger 2cm cyst. It should be followed for possibly polycystic ovarian disease
i went in hospital w/ right side lower stomach pain when i pushed in the area or sometiems just it would trigger a sharp pain on my side. There are the results, could this be cancerouse? im only 20 i have noone to talk to, no health insurance and im really scared and lonly over this, i am married and my husband doesn't understand any of this either. I have had this pain for 8 years now, so could it be a cyst that just never went away for 8 years and i've been stuck w/ the pain and its not getting bigger? i heard the small ones are normal, i dont want polycystic ovarian disease, i want kids an a life
Can someone help explain to me about cysts?
Hope this answers your question.

Anyone have experience w/ovarian cysts?
I went to the ER in August b/c I was having an early miscarriage. They did an ultrasound to confirm the miscarriage (which was a blighted ovum), and found I had a 21mm cyst on my right ovary (which made sense b/c I was having sharp shooting pains in my right side). They said it was small and functional and not to worry about it since there were no masses. Got my period in normal time and everything was back to normal (no pains). My second cycle post-miscarriage was really weird. When I ovulated it was late and I had severe bloating and cramping the evening I ovulated, then it went away, but for the 2 weeks before my period I had weird symptoms that made me think I was pregnant (breasts got huge, felt sick to my stomach, etc). And when I did get my period I felt a little throbbing on my right side for the 1st day or so. Then it went away. My 3rd post-miscarriage period started last night, and I have felt some little jabs in my right side, but they have gone away this morning. I should mention I've been to my OBGyn twice in the last 4 weeks as well as the ER (there was no pain but I was just worrying myself sick b/c I tend to obsess about this kind of stuff and I wanted to be seen asap) and had 3 pelvic exams and was told everything was completely normal and my ovaries felt totally normal and not to worry. But I can't help worrying... do you think the cyst they found on the ultrasound went away and these are all different cysts? Could I have had these all my life and never known? Some info on me that may help- I'm 29, have an 18-month-old son, weigh 130 pounds. Hubby and I will start trying for #2 in a few weeks so I just want to make sure everything is good to go!
Anyone have experience w/ovarian cysts?
It's normal. Cysts are VERY painful. Mine were 16cm, nearly an inch in size and I couldn't function even with narcotics.
They usually go away on their own. Aleve helps at times, if not, don't be afraid to ask your doc for pain meds.

Cysts, fibroids, etc....?
Has anyone ever had a cyst, fibroid, endometriosis, or other medical condition similar? Which of these would most likely cause sudden abnormal periods, heavy cramping, pain when pushed on pelvic area and pain during intercourse? I had an ultrasound today and just wondering....
Cysts, fibroids, etc....?
Cysts usually cause pain during intercourse....I had one last cycle.. and it caused heavy..(more than usual) bleeding.... endo..usually causes.. abnormal bleeding.. i.e bleeding in b/w cycles..
But I have both fibroid and cyst.. fibroid caused pain.. 2-3 days before my period actually started.. but.. did not cause heavy bleed or.. pain during intercorse....it was when I developed.. cysts that i noticed all that..
Now my Ob suspects that I have endo.. which caused.. the develope, ent of cysts..
hope it helps
Reply:Any of those conditions could cause your symptoms, I know it's hard to wait, but it's best to see what the result of your ultrasound is. Hang in there!
Reply:I have had fibroids, but all of them (cyst, fibroids, endometriosis) can cause those symptoms. I would suggest that you remain calm, don't stress (which is sometimes easier said than done), and wait for the results of your ultrasound so that your doctor can let you know what your options are and ways to get rid of them (that's if there are any).

Cysts and fallopian tubes?
i have a very painfull cyst on my ovaries and the er doc said i need to have it removed or it can twist my fallopian tube
does anyone know anything about twisted fallopian tubes?
can they be fixed?
i dont have insurance and cant get any because this is considered preexisting,i dont qualify for any government programs, and i would need 6000$in cash,in full for the surgery
which i dont have.so im terrified
is my reproductive system being destroyed as i speak?
Cysts and fallopian tubes?
Can you borrow money from a family member?
Can you put it on a credit card or two different credit cards?
Explain your problem to your doctor and ask if they can help you. Some doctors do some surgeries for free or for very little for people who cannot afford it.
You should really get this done. Yes, it's a lot of money but you don't want to not be able to have children in the future. You may not care right now but it might bring you a lot of sadness in the future.

CYSTS What to do??
I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome and recenetly discovered I have a massive cyst on my right ovary. Firstly, how do I treat it?? Im not into getting surgery. And also it causes a lot of pain and is difficult for me to walk. I just wanted to know what I can do about exercise....?
CYSTS What to do??
Hi. I have this exact same condition and was first diagnosed at 22 more than 25yrs ago. First off there is NOTHING you can do to treat that cyst yourself. I have so many that mine are totally in-operable save for a hysterectomy and at 22 that wasn't an option. What if the cyst bursts and causes a severe internal infection? Is it worth risking your life? Me. I would be getting that surgery. Speak to your obgyn for other options too.
Reply:While I dont support forcing surgery on anyone, I believe your views on surgery will change when the cyst ruptures and the pain is too severe. This is something that be somewhat relieved by surgical intervention and I would give it some careful consideration.

Anyone w/ knowledge on ovarian cysts?
I have been told that I have an ovarian cyst. The Ob/Gyn told me that it is fluid-filled and has some tissue. He assured me repeatedly that it was not cancer (because I'm such a worry wart). Anyway, I've had cysts before that have ruptured and there's no mistaking them. The only sx. I had then was the pain. This time though, I feel the pressure in my hip and low-back. It's been there for a couple of mos. The doc told me that there was no time limit on when it will go away. Should I take BCP's? Will this go away w/o rupturing? Why do all the sx. of ovarian cysts sound like ovarian cancer? Am I just being paranoid? The doctor reassured me that I'm too young for cancer and I have no family history of female cancers (I'm 33).
Anyone w/ knowledge on ovarian cysts?
You are never too young for cancer, but chances are your doctor has checked you out and you are in the clear. I had to go on BCP's for the same exact reason. When I started them I never had any troubles with cysts after that. I would recommend going on them, not only does it take care of the cysts, my periods became lighter.
Reply:I was recently diagnosed with the same problems. I have poly-cystic ovaries and i have the bad back pain and hip pain. I am in the process of having blood work done and sonograms to figure out if i can go on BCP's , after hearing from the docotor and the both of you i think it will be fine. I am actually looking forward to it b/c i am in so much pain all of the time. I cant even do sit ups or some times i cant even bend down to pick something up. I have never had one erupt yet and i was told that i have nothing to worry about when it comes to cancer. I guess if the doctor is telling you not to worry, then you shouldnt.
Reply:There is no such thing as too young for cancer, but ovarian cysts are not cancer and they won't become cancer. I had numerous ovarian cysts over many years in my teens. They were very painful, especially when they ruptured. But they are not harmful to your health.
I would get one, it would hurt off and on for a while then it would rupture and it would hurt like hell. Then I would be fine for a few weeks or months, then another one would grow. I went to several doctors and had surgery 3 times to remove them, but they would grow back. So finally my gynocologist asked if she could try something she hadn't heard of before and I said yes. She took me in for surgery but instead of removing the cyst she put a needle in it an drained all the fluid out. The membrane collapsed on itself and formed scar tissue that prevented the cyst from growing back. I have never had a problem with them since then.
Reply:a family history does not put you more at rist for ovarian cancer-- my mom's doctor told her the same thing and she said that ovarian cancer doesn't run in families and he said "I see you've been doing your research." And no body is too young for cancer.
Did he order a test called CA-125? If he didn't, ask him to. If he won't, get another doctor.

Cysts Help!?
Does anyone know how to calm the pain of a cyst in a wrist?!
Cysts Help!?
I am not sure how to relieve the pain- but my husband gets them and he calls them bible cysts- they used to and still do smack the cyst witha big heavy bible to pop it--- He has not done this himself as his are not bothersome---- but I would try
capsaicin cream(hot pepper) or
arnicia cream( imay have spelled it wrong) these can be found in a health food store or at vitamin shope on line---
Reply:ice pac for 15 mins, wet heat for 15 mins ibuprofen helps too
Reply:You may want to make an appointment with your doctor. Your doctor may want to refer you to a Rheumatologist. I had a cyst on my wrist which had to be drained. I also received a cortisone shot.
Reply:It sounds like your wrist should be seen by a doctor.

?!?!Cysts!?!?
my dr just told me i have one or more cyst. Tonite i am very nausiated (and burping frequently) with pains and cramps-- what should i do? try to ease it(HOW) or call er and ask if i should come in---oh PS...if i have to go in it will be the 5th time this month.....(bc of a stupid Dr)
?!?!Cysts!?!?
Are these ovarian cysts you are talking about? YES, they are very painfull, and if you are in a lot of pain call your doctor's office first thing tomorrow morning and let them know you need something stronger than over the counter meds for pain relief. The cysts do no cause burping or nausea. The burping is usually from nervousness or stress, when you inhale too much air while eating or drinking. And thus it causes nausea. So this would not be considered an emergency unless you are bleeding heavily with blood clots. For now take over the counter Motrin or Advil.
Sorry to hear you are hurting! Good luck getting over this. I know from personal experience just how painfull it is.
Reply:you should definattly go in and possibly consider changing doctors cysts are nasty!!!

Whats the difference between PCOS and ovarian cysts?
Women with PCOS tend to have a bunch of small cysts. It almost looks like a string of pearls. Sounds like you had a few instances where the cyst did not fully matrure and break off. Women with PCOS..this happens all the time...causing several cysts.
However, polycystic ovaries are only one symptom of PCOS. The underlying cause is actually insulin resistance (which in turn messes up hormones, causing the polycystic ovaries). Only about 1/2 of the women with PCOS actually have the cysts. Some of the other more common symptoms are irregular periods, lack of ovulation, skin tags, acne, thinning hair, excess facial/body hair, excess belly weight, depression, migraines. Not everyone has all the symptoms...it just depends on the person. Generally..if you have at least a couple of these symptoms (especially the lack of ovulation/irregular periods) then chances are that you have PCOS.
There are no tests for PCOS...although they can run some blood tests which can help with a diagnosis. Women with PCOS tend to have higher cholesterol and testosterone levels too (but not all PCOS women).
If your only symptom are these occassional cysts, then chances are that you dont have PCOS. I think it's fairly normal to have these cysts on occassion. Ask your doctor the next time you have one, but it's probably nothing to worry about. (even if it is PCOS, it is treatable and not life-threatening).

Ask your doctor the next time you have one, but it's probably nothing to worry about. (even if it is PCOS, it is treatable and not life-threatening).
Question for women who have expereince with ovarian cysts!?
I was diagnosed with a small functional ovarian cyst via transvaginal ultrasound in August after having a miscarriage. I have had a few pelvic exams during the last month b/c I felt some "pinching" on the right side during my last period- all 3 different doctors said everything was normal and they could feel no cysts (I am small framed). My most recent period ended 5 days ago and I have been getting those same jabs and twinges in my right side as well as my left sometimes, and even the middle. It isn't painful, just annoying. I also have been having some very slight pain in my low back (on taiIbone). I am going to start trying for my 2nd child this month and am worried about this... I'd really like to hear from those of you that have experience with cysts! For everyone else, please don't post stuff from websites about cysts- I've already read every site on the net about cysts! :)
Question for women who have expereince with ovarian cysts!?
I have had problems with them off and on for years. They do dissolve on their own and it is okay. I had three healthy children and still occasionally have problems but they usually disappear on their own. I know a couple whose got so large they wanted to have surgery but the doctor said they would go away on their own. They did not cause problems during pregnancy. Good luck.

Cysts that smell?
I have a cyst on the inside of my thigh that smells like fish. Other times it smells like honey. I've had these things in the same place for many years. Over 25 years ago, I actually had surgery to remove them from the root or whatever it's called. What I'm wondering, is why they never really go away and why they smell like they do.
Cysts that smell?
Are you sure it's the cysts that smell? You better go to the gyno. I can't see a cyst smelling like fish or anything for that matter.
Reply:"Sebatious" cysts can exist for many years and smell terrible at times ... ask a person that is an assistant to a doctor and helps to remove them !!! See your doctor as these can be removed under local anesthetic and are not painful.

I am wondering if some cysts are worse than others?
A few months ago I was having really bad pain so I went to the hospital and they said i had a couple cyst on my ovaries. I am wondering if you know when you have cyst everytime? Or is some of them not painful? I was looking around and some things say that you dont know everytime. And also I was wondering do you have to get cyst removed everytime?I would really appreciate it if you could let me know thank you.....
I am wondering if some cysts are worse than others?
Hi there! I've been diagnosed with a few ovarian cysts...all of mine have been small, and didn't need to be drained/removed. I can usually tell when they're coming on, b/c I'll get a sharp pain in either of my sides. My friend had a cyst that was HUGE and they had to remove her entire ovary, so I know they can get pretty big. But, from my experience, the doctors tell me that they'll eventually go away, and if they don't, I'll know from the pain.
Reply:I've had an ovarian cyst also. It ruptured and was EXTREMELY painful. I know what you're going through. Anyway, the best thing to do is prevent them from getting out of control. Every month your ovaries create a cyst to store the egg in before the egg is released. To prevent this from happening, you should start taking birth control pills. This way you don't ovulate; therefore, your ovaries have no reason to create the cysts every month.

Cysts in my left sinus?
Last year I was told that I have a cyst in my left sinus. My doctor told me that it doesn't have to be removed and she told me that I shouldn't worry about it. However, lately my whole side of my face is hurting and is also causing pressure in my left eye. It fells as if someone punched me right in the cheek and pain medicine doesn't help. Should I call the doctor and tell them what is going on?
Cysts in my left sinus?
i would definitely call up and tell them about it. it could have grown or changed. And if it's causing pressure in your left eye you need to get it checked.
i also had one last year but ended up getting sinus surgery and got the cyst removed. it was really NOT a fun process whatsoever, but it makes me feel a bit better knowing it's gone.
Reply:yes call the dr i felt likethat once and turns out i had pneumonia in my sinuses. hurt like hell

Help, I have 2 ovarian cysts. It hurts. What do I do?
I have had ALL the symtoms for some time now. But some of them for years!! i just had an ultrasound on monday. i was told each ovary has a cyst. One is 2.0 cm, one is 1.8 cm. 2 months ago I had EXTREME pain. So my Dr says, it may have burst back then. The thing is, today, right now, it hurts, Always on my left side (which has the smaller cyst). It's a sharp throbbing sometimes piercing pain. Theres always a dull ache there, but today its hurting all over again. My lower back is killing me. Do I call my Dr for pain meds? (nothing over the counter works). Doc said will repaet ultrasound in 2 months to see if theyre getting smaller or bigger. Am I going to hurt until then? Do I continue my normal activities? Why do I have these? Im 33, tubes tied, had 4 children. How long can you have cysts? Cause some of those symptoms Ive had for about 3 years. The peeing all night, lower back pain, and sharp pain in abdomin is new symptoms. What do I do now? Suffer till I get them rechecked?
Help, I have 2 ovarian cysts. It hurts. What do I do?
I also have 2 cyst's, one on my left ovary is 4 1/2 centimeters and one in my uterus which is 2 centimeters. The Dr. said they were nothing to worry about although I have the same pain as you do. Nothing relieves the pain. I have to "relieve" my self often as it causes even more pain if I do not. I just recently moved and my husbands job is just getting started and there isn't enough money to have them removed. I was placed on primary care here in Johnson City, Tn., but they've not been much help. So for now I'm in limbo. The problem with letting them go is that they can grow. 10 yrs ago I had one grow on my left ovary, It totally engulfed it and began "torching" (twisting). It killed my ovary and part of the tube as well. VERY pain full. It was removed after the birth of my daughter. It was 8 1/2 centimeters. The reason I'm telling you this is to let you know they do grow and waiting can sometimes be a mistake. Sometimes they burst and go away and sometimes they don't. Be careful, if you can get them removed.
Although, exercise is good for you, I have even had to reduce that as the pain gets worse when I do excesses. As you already know they can be there for years. As far as your routine If you can go on with them, don't succumb to the pain and let it run your life. I will pray for you.

Reply:I feel you girl. I have the same problem and yes it is on my left side. My Dr. also told me that they sometimes burst but if the pain gets to be unbearable they can be removed. I tend to have more pain when it gets close to that time of the month. For now I just deal with the pain in hopes that it will burst but if it continues to cause me pain I will have it removed. You should also consider having them removed to relieve yourself of the discomfort. At times it almost feels as if the cyst is leaking beacause it has a bit of a burning sensation and as I said I have extreme sensitivity on my left side close to period time.
I will pray for you cause I know exactly what you are going through.

Debris filled cysts?
Last year i had a dermoid cyst wich was removed recently i have had alot of cramping similar to that. I went to the doc and she gave me an rx to get an u.s. the doctor there told me they found 2 cysts one on each ovary that were debris filled. she said probably blood or what not. she could'nt give me much more info cause she needed to speak with my doctor. Can anyone tell me what to expect???

I would recommend making a follow-up appt with your dr to find out what the other dr had to say.
Reply:Sounds like an endometrioma, or "chocolate cyst."

Clomid and cysts?
i had my ultrasound scan last month and they found a follicle of 3 cm on my right ovury i had to wait till next months period to go for another scan to see if it as gone any bigger on day2 that had gone but had to go day 4 as it landed on christmas they have now found a follicle size 1.2 cm on my left have had to stop my clomid now till day 8 to see if its gone bigger why am i getting cyst n not ovulating on clomidi know that this will be a cyst because its to big for day 4 as anyone had any problems like this before its really getting me down all answers are very gratefull thanks :0(
Clomid and cysts?
I was supposed to go in for my 2nd round of Clomid w/ IUI this month but after the ultrasound they found a cyst and told me that Clomid overstimulates the ovary to produce eggs and this sometimes causes cysts and that I have to try on my own this month, if after my period this month its still there they will put me on the pill for 1 month to balance out my hormones. The RE assured me that it is fairly common and its not as bad as you think. This month I have gotten my period very early (20days) but I wont go to my RE for a check up as I will be leaving the country for 2months and dont want to start meds as they wont be able to monitor my egg production/follicle size etc. Good Luck and just make sure you keep going to your appointments so that they can make sure your cyst has gone.

Chances of infection of cysts?
I have a cyst on my skin, and it was infected about 5 months ago (there was an abcess there) and they tell me I should have the cyst removed. Anyways, they don't seem to be in a big rush (it's not big) but I'm afraid of it getting infected again. It seems to have completely healed from the last infection, but it was so painful I don't want it to happen again. Is it rare for a cyst to get infected like this or is it cause of irritation because it's on my skin or whatever? I plan on having it removed I just want to make sure I can do whatever I can to keep it from turning into another abcess.
Chances of infection of cysts?
If you have it removed the worry is over. It's not a big deal when removing it. The infection feels much, much worse. Cysts do get infected. Waiting longer to see a doctor just makes it worse. Get it taken care of before it get to the point of infection. These are common, not much you can do to prevent it..
Reply:I believe that she may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa. It is a condition of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there.

If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC.
Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer.

Treating ovarian cysts?
I have been on birth control for 2 years and have now been diagnosed with ovarian cysts. From knowing the symptoms after researching, I started having symptoms as long as 1 1/2 - 2 yrs ago. The pain has increased greatly and it feels like the one on my right ovary has grown quite a bit, since my last ultrasound in September. I have tried to narrow down what possible disorders I could have, including PSOC and endometriosis, but I have a few symptoms that I don't see listed for either, such as my pelvic area (possibly my uterus) hardening and becoming sore and my right pelvic area (probably where the ovary is located) swelling and forming a lump that can be seen by a normal person. I am not technically on birth control to treat them, even though it is usually supposed to help. What all treatments are available, other than surgery to remove the cyst or the entire ovary?
Treating ovarian cysts?
To begin with, there may be no reason to remove the ovary. All too often people believe that is the solution. I had similar symptoms and my doctor did a diagnostic laporoscopic surgery to determine the cause of my pain. Turned out not only did I have a cyst on one of my ovaries, but I also had endometriosis. My cyst was filled with blood and the doctor drained it and I have had no problem since. The endometriosis is another story for another time. But let's just say I still have all of my organs in my body and no more cyst.
Talk to your doctor about this. There are wonderful medications on the market now that can reduce size which will in turn reduce the pain in ovarian cysts. Your PCP probably won't know so much about these, but your OB/GYN will. He/She may want to do the same type of surgery I had. If you have it done, fill out Advanced Directive to Physician which has a section where you give your doctor explicit instructions on what they can and cannot do during surgery. I told mine that the only way he was to remove anything without waking me up was if there was no doubt it was cancer and then take anything affected.
Good luck to you! I really do understand your concern.
Reply:you cannot treat Ovarian assists, you may be able to do things that relieve the pain however if you have a serious problem with them then you may need to have your ovaries removed. I have had ovarian assists a few times and my mother had them so frequently and sever that she finally had her ovaries removed. You should talk to your doctor about your case and get their advice. Also you definitley need to have the bump checked out that does not sound like an assist for you cannot see assists. you might have some sort of growth or tumor. see your doctor ASAP!
Reply:Firstly, if you are taking oestrogen; stop it. Second, you need to see a gynaecologist. You cannot self diagnose this problem it is too complex. I had endometriosis (very painful) ended up having one ovary removed and a cyst taken off the other ovary. please see a specialist as this can be life threatening CANCER.

Exploding ovarian cysts... resulting effects?
I had a fairly large cyst (9 cms) on my right ovary that 'exploded' a week ago Friday. I've since had an MRI and the doctors concurr that we should go with the 'wait %26amp; see' method... I've been a lot better than I was, despite a few twinges here %26amp; there, but now it seems that during the past 3 days that the cyst may be rolling around in my stomach and (I apologize if this is crude) seems to be compressing my bowels. I feel as if it wants to come out ... I mean it even hurts when I sit down!
Since I know that there are LOTS of women out there who have been through this, can you tell me if this is 'normal'?
Thanks
Exploding ovarian cysts... resulting effects?
Two years ago I had to have emergency surgery because I had a cyst that was about to explode, I was vomiting everything I ate even water made me throw up, the doctor removed the cyst and the ovary, he said the cyst had cut off circulation to my ovary. I would go back to the Dr.
Reply:I was wondering if you had ever had any other problems other than this? i was just at the hospital last night because i had severe apin in my right side. the took blood and determined that it wasn;t my appendix or kidney's. they think that i have a cyst on my ovary. I have had cysts befroe but none as apinful as this... it brought to my knees and I got very hot and flush all of a sudden. now I am doing the 'wait %26amp; see' method.

I was wondering about choroid plexus cysts?
when I was four months pregnant we where told my daughter had a choroid plexus cyst on her brain. I was terrified I looked it up on the internet and it wasn't very clear on what this meant. It said missing arms, legs, fingers, have been linked to these cysts they think. When we went to the specialist the cyst had disinigrated. Everything was fine she is a very healthy girl and has all her fingers and toes. I was just wondering if this is normal or where we lucky, are all of my kids going to have these. So pretty much does any one have any experience with these type of cysts?
I was wondering about choroid plexus cysts?
It is believed that many adults have one or more tiny CPCs. CPCs have no impact on an individual's health or development or learning. The fetal brain may create these cysts as a normal part of development. They are temporary and usually are gone by the 32nd week of pregnancy.

I think about the missing toes etc.... happens in very extreme cases.
Glad everything is well...
Reply:A friend of mine went through the same thing. Her baby also turned out to be fine. I don't know for sure why this is caused or if it will happen again (she only has 1 baby) I think most of the cysts go away on their own because they told her she didn't need to worry about it and she just had lots of ultrasounds to keep an eye on it and to make sure it didn't come back. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Since you have already looked it up on the internet websites probably wouldn't help you. I guess my best advice would be talk to you Dr about your concerns!!

Can ovarian cysts cause weight gain??
My hormones are affected by this cyst i have growing. It is going to be removed soon but I have noticed my weight increasing. can cysts do that??
Can ovarian cysts cause weight gain??
I would guess that it is probably from the hormone changes. Indirectly the cyst would be causing the weight gain, since it is causing the hormone changes. I had an ovarian cyst when I was 16, and I also had it removed. I honestly didn't notice myself gaining weight before or after it was removed. The surgary is no picnic, but it's great to not be in pain anymore. You also have to figure that the cyst has some weight to it as well. I don't know how big yours is, but depending on size, and how much weight you've gained, that could be a major factor as well. Good luck with your operation!

Can ovarian cysts cause a false positive pregnancy test?
my doctor found a cyst in my ovary. im 11 weeks pregnant. Can the cyst have caused a false positive pregnant response on my urine test?
Can ovarian cysts cause a false positive pregnancy test?
So are you pregnant or not?
Reply:yes that secrets the hCG hormone which is the test specific gonadotropin
Reply:No. Cysts do not procude HCG. Only a pregnancy can do that. Have you had a blood pregnancy test? Cysts are quite common and usually nothing to worry about. If you had an ultrasound to see your cysts, didn't they check to see if a fetus was growing too? You're able to see the fetus as early as 5-6 weeks.

Anyone had cysts during pregnancy?
Saw doctor about ultrasound results today. She said there's a cyst on the "other side" of my uterus (not ovaries) so I think that means my left side because the baby is on the right. So they scheduled me for a follow-up ultrasound in 4 weeks.
Anyone had this, what does it mean? All I could find online was info on ovarian cysts during pregnancy but that's not what this is.
Anyone had cysts during pregnancy?
Early on, I had a cyst that was strictly related to the pregnancy. It was called a corpus luteum cyst. Kind of made me mad at first. My doctor brushed over the subject like it was no big deal. But in the end, after researching it online, I found out that it's perfectly normal. The cyst maintains the pregnancy. It's also the culprit behind the aches and pains you may be experiencing. Don't worry, after about 16 weeks it should dissolve. Your doctor is doing the right thing by scheduling a followup ultrasound.

Morning-after pill and cysts?
Hi, I took the morning-after pill on March the 9th.. My period should have come on April the second, but I only spotted which I was told is normal after taking the morning-after pill. I took 7 home pregnancy tests and 1 blood tests and they all came out negative. 2 days ago I went to the OBgyn and he did an ultrasound and assured me I was for sure NOT pregnant but he found a 4 cm cyst on my left ovary. He said it could have been caused by the Morning-after pill so he put me on birth control for 21 days, Mieline. Have you experienced cysts or have heard of people who took the morning-after pill and ended up with ovarian cysts? Thank you
Morning-after pill and cysts?
The morning after pill could have caused the cyst. I got a cyst on my ovary when I was pregnant and I was told its fairly common and they tend to go away on their own. Its usually due to hormone changes. You are receiveing the best treatment from your obgny so I would not worry too much. As for the first comment you got, about the MA pill killing an unborn child don't take what they have said to heart. The MA pill causes changes in the lining of your uterus so a fertilized egg cannot implant itself. It was never a baby it was a cell. Usually you take the MA pill as a precaution to prevent pregnancy, there is no saying you would have ended up pregnant without taking it. Please take all this into consideration.
Reply:People probably get cysts after the morning after pill as punishment for killing baby that was on its way to this world. I'm glad you got them. Why not just take birthcontrol or use a condom. Dumbie!!!
Reply:There are probably gonna be side effects to any medication that you take. Ranging from head ache to alot worse. I would wait and see what happens after you take the birth control pills. Cysts can be easily removed. Just try not to worry, and stay positive. And don't beat yourself up for something that you obviously felt you had to do. Wish I had more info for you. Good luck.

What are cysts?
a cyst is liquid i dont know exactly what or why its there
but i had one on top of my head
if you go to a dermatologist they will remove it for you if it actually is a cyst its quite painless, one or two stitches.
Reply:A cyst is a pocket of liquid. You probably have damaged the skin %26amp; made a scar.
Reply:A cyst is a closed sac having a distinct membrane and developing abnormally in a cavity or structure of the body. Cysts may occur as a result of a developmental error in the embryo during pregnancy or they may be caused by infections. However, sometimes they arise spontaneously with no apparent cause. Cysts are often dangerous as they may have negative effects (for instance, compression) on the nearby tissue. They may contain air, fluids, or semi-solid material. A collection of pus is called an abscess, not a cyst.
A cyst may also be a sack that encloses an organism during a dormant period, such as in the case of certain parasites. This type of cyst may, for instance, protect a parasite from the churning acid of the stomach so it may pass through to the intestines unharmed where it can then break out.
Reply:I've had cysts and even have one on my back that goes in when I try to pop it too. I'd go to the doctor and see if he recommmends having it removed. They're usually non-cancerous, too.

Pregnancy and cysts?
i have already had my left ovary removed due to problems with cysts i am about 8 weeks pregnant and had a sono a few days ago and the nurse said i have a very small cyst on my right ovary is that normal during pregnancy she told me not to worry but i am....she said it just means my hormones are doing what they are supposed to but that doesnt make me relieved. should i be worried?
Pregnancy and cysts?
I am not pregnant yet though I will be trying shortly. I just went to the er yesterday because of extreme abdominal pain. Turned out that I have a cyst in my uterus. The doctor said I will be fine (thankfully) and that it will not affect future pregnancy. She said they are normal and the reason the pain was there is because the cyst tend to burst...in some women they simply go away. She also said that at times when you are pregnant that cyst may be there but they won't do any harm to the baby or to you. They are simply "hanging out"....Please try not to worry. Everything will be ok.
Reply:I was in a similar situation (about 15 years with ovarian cyst problems) except that I have never had an ovary removed. I had an ultrasound when I was 5 weeks pregnant because of the pain and they needed to make sure that it was not ectopic. I just had several cysts. They were surprised that my left side hurt more than the right as the right side's cysts were larger.
They also told me it was normal to have cysts during pregnancy. They also come and go normally, just most women don't seem to have the same issues. Once I knew that the pregnancy was not ectopic I felt better.
However even though technicians and nurses know a lot and can do much to help you go ahead and bring it up to your doctor the next time you have an appointment. Otherwise you will probably still be worried when you would otherwise be enjoying your pregnancy. And Congratulations!
Reply:It's totally normal!!!! Please don't be worried. The cyst forms on the ovary that releases the egg, and it is essential to the early development of the pregnancy. As my doctor put it, removing the cyst would terminate the pregnancy. (Every pregnant woman I know has had one. Corpus Luteal cyst or something like that.)
You'll be fine! Congratulations!

Internal bumps - Cysts on ovaries?
I can feel several internal bumps on my ovaries. When I was 28 I was diagnosed and treated for endometriosis and I lost one ovary due to a dermoid cyst. Since then (9 yrs) I have none of the pain or symptoms that I had before the surgery and I conceived a child who is now 8 years old. Consequently, I have always been regular, even before the sugery. Now when I lay flat, I can feel these tiny little bumps or cysts in several places on my ovaries. I will go to my well woman check up, but just wanted your opinion.
Internal bumps - Cysts on ovaries?
i've got ovarian cysts too. i had to go on the pill to control them.
but you cannot feel cysts or bumps on your ovaries from just pushing on your stomach. the only way to know for sure is to get a ct scan done. so talk to your doctor about it and i hope everything turns out alright!
Reply:your ovaries are so far inside your abdomen, there is no wa u can feel these "bumps", you might be feeling small fatty tissues, they feel like bumps also. Go to your ck up and talk with your doctor about your concerns.
Reply:I will be thinking about you and praying for you that everything is ok. I know that I would be shaking in my boots right now if I was you. I hope that it is not what you are thinking. Hope you are going to her soon as well. Good luck sweety!

Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo/For Ovarian Cysts?
I started taking these pills today. I was on Lo24Fe but had to get off b/c I have a 5cm complex ovarian cyst and I was basically hemorrhaging it was so bad. Anyway, has anyone else seen their cyst dissolve while on this pill? If it doesn't work after I get off my cycle then I have to have surgery b/c I've had this same damn cyst for 1 1/2 years. It just keeps growing so hopefully this will help. Also, has anyone skipped periods for more than a year (due to a cyst/hormonal levels) and when you do have your period you go through about 5 boxes of ultra tampons in 1.5 weeks time? Thanks.......

Eye brown cysts........?
sode anyone know how i can get rid of a small cyst under my right eyebrow. i first noticed this about a year ago, and it has bugged me ever since. my sister had one on her back and poped it. now there is a scar. her cyst was a liquid but mine is hard and just stays there. my doctor has recomended surgey to remove it but if there is another way i would like that more. please help me. best answer recives 10 points.
Eye brown cysts........?
The surgery would be very minor, just so you know. The doctor would freeze up the area and remove it in a way that would prevent little scarring. I don't believe there is a way to do this yourself without preventing scarring or infection, sorry!
Reply:It sounds like a sebaceous cyst, which involves a very small incision, removal of the solid cyst and the cyst wall (because it can grow back), and utlimately a tiny scar.
There is no home-removal option.

Choroid Plexus Cysts: found at 18 weeks, now very scared?
my doctor called and told us our baby has a choroid plexus cyst and we need to get a level 2 ultrasound. After researching, I found that this may mean our child has chomosomal defect.Iam 25 and thought I was at low risk of having a child with downs syndrome. How many of you have had a diagnosis of choroid plexus cyst and had healthy babies, I am soo worried, I can't eat or sleep, I am consumed with fear that something is wrong.
Choroid Plexus Cysts: found at 18 weeks, now very scared?
CPC is usually a soft marker for a gene abnormality called Edwards Syndrome..also known as trisomony 18 (this is not down syndrome, down syndrome is on chromosone 21).....If I were you I would have an amnio done instead of another ultrasound....an amnio will give you 100% results if in fact there is any abnormality...I wish you the best of luck and hope everything turns out ok.....Good Luck~
PS I would really suggest the amnio because they told me I had a 1% chance of having a down syndrome baby and that I really didnt need the amnio, but I chose to have it and my baby had Down Syndrome....not to scare you, but if you are ever in doubt you should have the amnio done....it will tell you for sure.
Reply:I am 22 weeks.
At 18 weeks I had a sono and Dr told me the same thing. He also told me that 75% of babies indicate this early on and that 99.9% of these cysts disappear by week 24. He did not order a level 2 sono, he said that I would get another and 32 weeks. He also said that there must be many other "red flags" combined with this to cause concern. I am 37 years old, and have major concerns over this pregnancy as well but I am comforted by the fact that this seems to be a normal thing with a up to 18 week sono.
Take a deep breath and get your level 2 sono.
Best of luck to you and to your baby.
Reply:Try to remain calm for your baby. I know it's easier said than done! Read the page below. It might ease your worries. You still are low risk in all actuality. When I was on other message boards while pregnant, I remember other women going through the same thing that you are. Try the pregnancy board on WebMD. It was great and also American Baby... I was born with a cyst on my brain and it's still there. It has never affected me my whole life. The only reason I know it's there is because I was in an accident and had to have an MRI done. It's not always bad. I'm normal and have had no symptoms. Good luck. It may resolve itself. Especially if you have no other markers.
Reply:I haven't herd of this particular cyst but I am currently 39weeks pregnant with my 2nd daughter. At 12weeks my scan showed a cyst on the umbilical cord and this can also be a sign that the baby will have chomosomal defects. I had to go to a specialist hospital in london for further scans. My advise to you is yes everything is worrying and the time ahead will be hard but don't be rushed or forced into making any decissions until you are sure and know all the facts.Between 12 and 28 weeks I was offered 2 terminations, amniocentesis(could have resulted in miscarrdge so early) and was told a baby will live inside you but with chomosomal defects will die once born. Chomosomal defects are not down syndrome, down syndrome is totally different and if you are low risk then you are low risk. Having a more detailed scan everything on the baby is measured, even the length of the nose, I was scanned for an hour and a half, everything is checked. My cyst never grew and didn't attach to anything. It was at 28weeks that I was told my baby is fine, healthy and growing normally. The last scan I went to was ok and medical staff arn't even worried or going to do tests to see why the cyst ever developed. I hope your baby is all ok and you are as lucky as I am. I know and understand what you are going through and its so hard because it feels like there arn't enough people medically who know about these conditions. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your scan, you shouldn't. Let us know what happens.

I have cysts/lumps uner my skin.?
I have probably 10 lumps/cysts under my skin. the biggest on my right leg about half way down my quad is about the size of a quarter, and it feels as if it is split, or has a ridge down in , and that one will get bigger when I work out. The others are about the size of dimes or nickels. 2 are on my leg, 2 on my back, one on my ribs, one on the lower part of my stomach., 1 on my right side...
They all are semi hard and they move a litle. the one on my back(on my ribs) kind of hurts if you push on it...
I am a big guy at 6"4' 280lbs, I am a built guy and i lift a lot, my body fat is around 24%, and I play football, but
What are these?
I had the one on my leg checked and he said it was some sort of cyst?
But does anyone know what these are?
I have cysts/lumps uner my skin.?
I am an Registered Massage Therapist, and our thoughts on these "cysts" are...
1) if it moves great it is when you cant move it that i would be alarmed
2) does it cause you pain to move it? if yes not so great
always check with the doc first, if the doc say no probs then no probs, but yes adipose tissue can form under the skin (i have to on my saccrum which have been there for years, and i have tons of clients that have them, unfortunately if they "the cysts" check out ok, then it is just more of how do they look to me thing then a what are they harming thing :) also a fluid sac sometimes will gather and will need to be drained... fun fun
good luck,
Kasper

Ovarian cysts?
I was in the ER the other night with terrible pain in my left side, around my ovary and into my back. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome but never had a cyst. When I went in I was thinking it was probably a urinary tract infection that had got into my kidney, well I didn't have that, and they did a cat scan where they make me drink the barium shake (which later ended up in my front yard lol) and it didn't show anything, is it possible to have a small enough cyst that it doesn't show up? They ran blood tests and everything and nothing came back, Im really frustrated because they said there was nothing at all.....any ideas. I am still having the pain so Im very confused. There has to be something wrong for me to be in pain.
Ovarian cysts?
Hi,
I am a doctor..
You have to think of the following things..
1.torsion of ovarian cyst
but do not get this confused with the cysts of PCOS (POLY CSYITIC OVARIAN SYNDROME)
the cysts in PCOS are very small..while an ovarian cyst which undergoes torsion is much larger..
it should be seen in a scan if it was present,
(the ovarian cyst)
2.ectopic pregnancy
when did you have your last period?this may be a possibility if you dint have your periods for the past 2,3 months..
but if you periods wer regular and if you had them recently. then there is no need to wory..
3.urinary tract infection with pyelonephritis..did they rule out this after doing a urine culture/urine full report?
4.some other pathology inside th abdominal cavity..
but most of them are seen on a scan..
If you are still in pain go and show the scan to some other experinced doctor..
Sometimes trivial things may be missed on the scans by inexperienced radiologists..
So if the pain persists goto a doctor and show your reports again..
sometimes a scan may be needed to be repeated..

Reply:girl, don't take it lightly, get a good Gynaecologist, and get all your test properly done again, it could be a case of Ectopic pregnancy.
It happened to me few year ago, and my gynao told me that I have nothing to worry, it;s just ovary cyst and that it's not very serious. But no medicine cured me, and my doctor suspected of ectopic but she wasnt sure. She recommended to go for leprocy ( sorry I cant remember exact name of that test, but it was someting like that), and then they found out what was the real problem, and surgery is the only option if this is the case.
I am not trying to scare you, but thought I should share it with you, may be of some help. Take care of your self.

She recommended to go for leprocy ( sorry I cant remember exact name of that test, but it was someting like that), and then they found out what was the real problem, and surgery is the only option if this is the case.
I am not trying to scare you, but thought I should share it with you, may be of some help. Take care of your self.

Pilonidal Cysts?
Hi there, I am pretty sure i have a pilondial cyst. Is there any chance one of these cysts could produce urinary symptoms?
Pilonidal Cysts?
Its very unlikely. The cyst really isn't that deep and doesn't go beyond the caudal region of your back. That means its not in a proper location to effect the kidneys, bladder, or anything else.
Get the cyst checked out because you don't want it to get any bigger or infected. You might find out at the doctors visit that you may have an unrelated urinary tract infection or something like that.
Reply:How do you know that you have a pilondial cyst? the best way to find out if you do, is going to the doctor, if you have a soar by your tailbone area, than it probley is a pilondial cyst. You may just need to get it drained, or even at most antibiotics, but there is a chance, in the future you may need to get surgry on it, to remove the whole thing, I had to and its not too bad.

Ovarian cysts...?
i had an ovarian cyst in MY left ovary.
i waited a month. went back to the doctor to be checked again.
and they said it completely dissolved.
but for some reason i dont believe it...
what are the chances they didnt look deep enough.
and what are the chances that now i have a cyst in my right ovary?
Ovarian cysts...?
Ovarian cysts can dissolve in 1 cycle, mine took 3 cycles to dissolve and they put me on the pill. If they did an ultrasound on both ovaries and found no signs of cysts, you should be fine. If you have any questions, call your doctor, you need to be sure, it's your health and your body.

Ovarian Cysts & Trying to Conceive.?
Alright. I have a question... I think I may have an ovarian cyst. I'm going to the doctor next week to check. But I have a question, does having an ovarian cyst reduce your chances or getting pregnant? Can you still get pregnant if you have one? And if you can, does it hurt the baby at all?
Thanks in advance.

Ovarian Cysts %26amp; Trying to Conceive.?
I have ovarian cysts. They were found on an ultrasound but I do not have any pain. I am having them surgically removed next month. The doctor said that it does not interfere with your ability to get pregnant but it can cause problems during pregnancy ie. Pain, they can twist and burst and you may need surgery during pregnancy. It also depends on the size of the cysts. Mine are between 3-6 cm one on each ovary.
Reply:It depends on the type of cyst, I have a right ovary covered in cysts and I got pregnant after 5 months of trying, and had my daughter with not one problem. If you get pregnant and have a cyst, no it won't hurt the baby. You'll be ok.
Reply:I have had problems with cyst on my ovaries since I was 14. I never really tried to get pregnant and kinda assumes it affected that but at 24 I did get pregnant without trying at all and since having my son I have never had any problems with them at all.
Thanks in advance.

Does this sound like ruptured ovarian cysts?
I'm 35 years old. For about four years, at least three months' out of the year, on my right low side (where my right ovary is), I have severe pain the week before my period to the point of getting a fever. This usually subsides somewhat the next day, but I still cannot walk without holding my stomach and I cannot bend over. Ibuprofen helps quell the pain somewhat. However, for the other eight or nine months' during the year, my periods are painless. Could it be that an ovarian cysts grows over the months and I don't have any symptoms, but then when the cyst ruptures, that's when I feel it?
Does this sound like ruptured ovarian cysts?
This sounds like what my friend courtney had. And she did have ruptured ovarian cysts. But she also have ovarian cysts. So in my opinion would be go get an ultra-sound. And yea maybe a hysterectimey (?spelling?) would be a good idea. I hope i helped! Good Luck!
Reply:You do not need a hysterectomy!! I started getting ovarian cysts about a year or two ago - they are very painful (I was sent to the hospital for a CT scan because my doctor thought I had appendicitis) however they are very common and normally the doctor will tell you that it will go away on its own (although the doctor will probably want you to come in for ultrasounds every now and again to check the size of the cyst). Unless the cyst is cancerous (rare) or very large (also rare), you shouldn't need surgery.
Also, yes it does sound like you might have a cyst. Personally, when mine ruptured it felt like someone was sticking a screaming hot knife into my lower abdomen...that's the only way I can explain it! They say that cysts normally rupture when you start your period...when I have a cyst, it usually does hurt around AF time.

Question about ovarian cysts - I'm freaking out...?
I have had on and off dull aching in my left side where my ovary is for the past 5 years or so. It has seemed to come and go ever few months. I had dealt with it for about 4 years and just assumed it was an ovarian cyst. I got married and got pregnant on the very first try. I had a beautiful baby boy 1 year ago. Now the cyst is back, I have a baby now, and my mind is getting away from me and driving me crazy. I keep thinking I have ovarian cancer. I had a c-section and wanted to ask if the delivering doctor inspect your ovaries while they have you opened up? My OBGYN said that he did and everything looked fine....but my mind keeps getting carried away. If it really was cancer, wouldn't I have gotten very sick by now...after 5 years of having this off and on dull ache? I always resigned myself to the fact that it was a cyst but now I'm scared and my mind is getting away from me.
I'm going in for a check up in a week, but I'm going crazy thinking about this. What do you think?
Question about ovarian cysts - I'm freaking out...?
You say your dull ache is "off and on". Please read about functional ovarian cysts at http://www.mayoclinic.com/print/ovarian-... Your OBGYN can draw blood for a CA125, which may be elevated in the case of ovarian cancer. I am 46 and have had ovarian cysts since age 19. I've had them torque and burst, been hospitalized and put on IV antibiotics, and have seen on a CT scan that they are sometimes the size of golf balls. It is not likely you have ovarian cancer; painful ovarian cysts are simply something most women get eventually. You must speak frankly to your OBGYN about your concerns; only he/she can address this issue medically.
Reply:Just go back to your OBGYN and tell him/her about your concern. If he/she has already checked, I'm sure you are fine, but if you keep worrying, just go ask again.
Reply:Be sure to tell your OBGYN next week that there is something wrong and you want it investigated. No one knows your body better than you. In any case, the only way to find out what is really going on is to see your docotor and DO NOT take the standard, "it is all in your head". It is not normal to have a dull ache on and off again for years on end, but it could be many minor things other than cancer. Please do not freak out about cancer for the next week - this is not going to help you at all. Concentrate on the fact that you are finally going to get answers and take comfort that your OBGYN already had a good look from the inside!
From MedLine Plus;
"Ovarian cancer usually happens in women over age 50, but it can also affect younger women. Its cause is unknown. Ovarian cancer is hard to detect early.
The sooner ovarian cancer is found and treated, the better your chance for recovery. But ovarian cancer is hard to detect early. Many times, women with ovarian cancer have no symptoms or just mild symptoms until the disease is in an advanced stage and hard to treat. Symptoms may include:
Heavy feeling in pelvis
Pain in lower abdomen
Bleeding from the vagina
Weight gain or loss
Abnormal periods
Unexplained back pain that gets worse
Gas, nausea, vomiting, or loss of appetite
Treatment is usually surgery followed by treatment with medicines called chemotherapy. "
I hope this was a little helpful for you, but you can always check with your local cancer centre (usually in a hospital) if you want more information. Take a deep breath and concentrate on your beautiful child right now. Be well and be happy! My thoughts of great health for many years are with you.

Explain causes of cysts, esp thyroid please?
1. does anyone really know what would cause a thyroid cyst? Is it a deficiency or did the person breathe in something or was exposed to toxins or what...? :)
2. any natural ways to shrink thyroid cysts or any cyst I suppose in general? any other natural treatments, such as apply heat or would that explode it? etc ? :)
it is big (someone said you can't see them, but yes, you can), takes up the whole left side of my thyroid, but my thyroid is still working fine, so I don't see a need to cut out something that is still working and doesn't seem to be cancerous. (they did try a FNA but ended up sticking me in wrong spots and only getting blood ..it was quite painful, I had to get extra pain medicine, and it caused a hemangioma I think they said (big blood clot basically) it was NOT a nice procedure!! so I'm not going back unless it feels bigger.
Help! %26amp; thanks a bunch
Explain causes of cysts, esp thyroid please?
there really isnt anything you can do yourself to shrink it or make it go away, i would continue to talk to your doctors about this, just explain to them that you dont want that procedure again and perhaps they can come up with another treatment plan. Also did they tell you it was working fine? I had to have mine completely removed because it was cancerous (very rare by the way) its not so bad living without it. I cant really tell and its much more comforatable without the lump on the side of my neck. Often times its caused by not having enough iodine in your system, or as in my case they just arent sure, and if you also want to know what causes cysts in general its different for different parts of the body. so the reasons would be too numerous to list ok this seems like a fairly informative site to get you started and can hopefully give you a much better answer http://www.medicinenet.com/cysts/article...
Reply:Cycts are sacs that contain either fluid, air, puss or other matter. I do not believe that anyone knows what causes these to develope in some people more then others. Personally, I have cysts in my thyroid, liver, breasts, ovaries and some that were on my skin. The cysts in my thyroid, actually called nodules, did not cause the function to change for many years so I choose to leave it alone. However, once I went hyperthyroid it was recommended that my thyroid be removed. The surgery went well and I am now maintained on synthroid. Family history of thyroid problems probably plays a bigger role in developing cysts or not. Many women in my family have had thyroid problems so I wasn't surprised when I developed a goiter.

Question about ovarian cysts?
I found out that I have a 6.5 ovarian cyst yesterday and they need to look more into it and i was wondering what will they do with that big of a cyst. And this cyst isnt on the ovary. its in it. and im not in any pain at all. i have my usual cramps and sharp pains around my period but im not in any discomfort at all. Will they removie it? will it make me infertile???? just some questions and concerns and i just wanted some feedback. thank you\
Question about ovarian cysts?
Theyre some pretty tough and important questions. I think it's best to ask your doctor as he knows your case specfically and he will give you the best advice. It's normal to have concerns like those so I think thats the best method.
Reply:you have -2- ovaries...if you lose one you still have another and no it will not make you infertile....as long as you have one ovary....if they have to remove it, they will probably do a laproscopic...4 small incisions (one in your belly button) and pull the ovary out...you'll be fine...(unless it's cancerous...then theres chemo, radiation or whatever your Dr's feel is best for you...but the ovary needs to come out first).
Reply:The doctors will want to run some painless but specific tests so they can determine if the cyst needs to be removed surgically or if it can be treated with medication.
Not all cysts cause pain or discomfort.
My little sister had a cyst that made her look like she was 3 to 4 months pregnant. The doctors simply took a sonogram of the cyst, ran a couple of more tests, and prescribed her a medication that over a few months got rid of the cyst completely.
Myself, I have delt with ovarian cysts for about 20 years. I have only had one that required treatment. I took a prescription and everything was fine.
On the flip side, if the doctors deem it is necessary to remove that one ovary in order to get rid of the cyst, then you still have one more ovary and you will not be sterile. It could cut your chances in half of becoming pregnant, but then again if you have a cyst in your ovary that requires the ovary to be removed, then there is a good likelihood that it is not functioning properly anyway.
As always, it is best to talk openly with your doctor. However, if you are uncomfortable asking your doctor questions like this then it would be in your best interest to find a new doctor. Look at it this way, when you buy a car you don't just pick one out of a group with out asking questions, test driving it, etc. When it comes to doctors you have every right to have an initial consultation with the doctor to make sure you are comfortable and feel safe with that doctor. So shop around and find that right doctor for you.
Good luck and relax!
Reply:Since I work in the operating room, I can tell you a little bit about what you are going to expect to happen. If the cyst on the ovary is fribrous they usually remove that ovary. Or if the cyst is fluid filled they would just drain it, and leave it intact. But if they find that something is wrong with that ovary they will remove it because the surgeon doesn't want that ovary to cause any complications after the procedure, or in the future. You can still be happy and fertile with only just one ovary. I have heard from surgeons feedback that their patients have been able to have children and live productive lives after having one of their ovaries removed. If they have not told you already you will have irregular periods from time to time or mild bleeding (or spotting) after the surgery. I hope this is helpful for you. Good luck to you.....

Can cysts cause a constant pain in abdominal area?
I know I have one cyst on my right ovary (going in for sonogram soon to determine what to do about it) But I'm also 4 DPO, could be preg. but I always doubt I am, I just have this pain in my abdominal pelvic area..can cysts cause a constant ache like this?
Can cysts cause a constant pain in abdominal area?
Oh yes! I have PCOS (Poly-Cystic-Ovarian-Syndrome) and especially when I'm ovulating, I have sharp horrible pains in my lower stomach, and I've tried everything for it. They say you can go on BC pills for it, but not me...My doctor has prescribed every form of BC out there LOL Good Luck To You!
Reply:Absolutely! Ovarian cysts are extremely painful. Stay regular with your checkups and take your antibiotics, even if you feel better.
Ask your Dr to prescribe some Motrin for pain to help you sleep.
Reply:Yes, You should get an ultrasound soon so your doctor can see if it is just a cyst or tumor or if it is blocking your functions. I have an ovarian cyst on my right ovary and there is time where the pain has me doubled over. A heating pad on the area can help with some of the discomfort along with about 800 mg of Motrin (that is what my MD told me).

Ovarian Cysts?
I am having a lot of pain on my right side. I had a 6cm cyst removed last year. It hurts to sit, stand, and walk. What should I do? Everybody thinks that it is one of my cysts and I am thinking that maybe they are right. Please help me.
Ovarian Cysts?
I agree with both above. Go to the ER or your doc; which ever is open right now. Don't play guessing games with your health; please take care of yourself. Ovarian cysts are extremely painful when they rupture; I know this from experience.
Reply:You should definitely go to the emergency room if your doctor's office isn't open right now. Though it could be a cyst, you also want to make sure to rule out other conditions such as appendicitis or an ectopic pregnancy (both of which require immediate treatment.)
Reply:You should see a doctor. I also had a cyst, but when I started having really bad pain I went to the doctor and it turned out to be something else that could have been life threatening. Never wait until it hurts so bad that you have the symptoms that you do. Good Luck!
Reply:Go see the doctor it may be getting ready to rupture. I had an ovarian cyst over a year ago that the doctors just kept playing the wait and see game with it not know how large it really was when they did a scan they said 1 cm on my left ovary well when the pain got to how you are describing yours they did exploritory laproscopic surgery and it had killed my right ovary and pushed everything over my cyst was the size of a softball 2 times the normal size of your uterus. Needless to say my whole ovary had to be removed. it was damaged to where there was no blood flow to it anymore. It was a corpus lueteum cyst that went crazy. Hope all goes well and please go to the doc it could also be appendicitis.
Reply:You need to either go to your doc. if you can bear the pain for a few more days, or go to the er if it is unbearable. Since you have a hx of cysts it is very likely that that could be the case. Cysts are a pain, but once they rupture or are removed you go back to normal as you already know. Since the pain is on your right side, you really need to go to the er because it could poss. be a lingering appendix issue. if you are running any type of fever pack up and head in asap.

Brain cysts...what are the treatment options?
I discovered a month ago, through an MRI, that I have a cyst located in the center of my brain. I was being screened for MS, which came back negative, but the cyst was discovered. Even though I am experiencing numbness in my legs, feet, arms and hand with additional pressure at the base of my skull, doctors want to wait and see if my symptoms get worse. Does anyone have any feedback on this situation???

The subject of cysts contains a number of separate entities. These include arachnoid cysts, colloid cysts, dermoid cysts, epidermoid cysts and Rathke's cleft cysts. The symptoms of these various cysts relate to their size, location and speed of growth. They are all benign.
Arachnoid cyst
These are also known as leptomeningeal cysts. They are congenital lesions present from the time of birth). As mentioned above, their symptoms relate to their size, location and speed of growth. They are often found incidentally when a CT scan or MRI scan is obtained for another reason. Treatment options include observation (with serial CT or MRI scans), cyst-peritoneal shunt (drainage to the abdominal cavity) or craniotomy with resection of the cyst. The particular treatment recommended depends upon the symptoms and location.
Colloid cyst
These are also known as neuroepithelial cysts. Colloid cysts almost always occur in adults. They are most commonly found in the third ventricle (a central portion of the spinal fluid pathway). This location can, if the cyst is large enough, cause blockage of the spinal fluid and lead to hydrocephalus. This leads to an increase in intracranial pressure, the symptoms of which range from simple headache to sudden death. The diagnosis is made by MRI scan. CT scan can also show these cysts but MRI is preferable. There are a number of treatment options. One option is a shunt procedure to drain the excess spinal fluid to the abdominal cavity. Direct approaches to the tumor include a number of larger cranial operations and two "smaller" approaches. One, stereotactic aspiration and two, endoscopic aspiration/removal. Since the best approach has yet to be determined, treatment is decided on an individual case basis.
Dermoid cyst
The dermoid cyst is a benign tumor that originates from some of the cells that later form the skin. They are more commonly seen in the spine than the brain. When found in the brain, they tend to be in the midline. Dermoid cysts are usually seen in children and can be associated with episodes of meningitis. The treatment is surgical removal.
Epidermoid cyst
The epidermoid cyst is also known as a cholesteatoma. Like the epidermoid cyst they also originate from the cells that later form the skin. These cysts are found most commonly in middle-aged adults. Unlike dermoid cysts, epidermoid cysts are more frequently located in the brain than the spine. Epidermoid cysts tend to be located in an area called the cerebello-pontine angle (the usual location for acoustic neuromas). The standard treatment is surgical removal.
Rathke's cleft cyst
These are developmental cysts that arise from cells located in what is called Rathke's cleft or pouch. Rathke's cleft cysts are found in the region of the pituitary gland and are frequently seen as incidental findings at autopsy. Rathke's cleft cysts cause symptoms by causing pressure on adjacent structures such as the optic nerves (causing vision problems) and the pituitary gland causing loss of pituitary function. The treatment, when they cause symptoms, is surgery.

Ovarian cysts... again?
I've had 2 surgeries in 9 months. 1st was a fibroid tumor on my uterus, 6cm. 2nd was a cyst on my right ovary, 7cm resulting in the removal of the ovary as well. I went to my OB this past friday for all the same symptoms. He suggested a pelvic ultrasound and birth control. I could only get an appt. for the ultrasound in 2 weeks! I hate this, it's messing with my life. I couldn't wait, not 2 weeks working with pain, so I went to the ER. Tada. A 4cm cyst on my one good ovary. Can I elect to have surgery to have a histerectomy? And I've switched insurance. Will this be considered a pre-existing condition? I do not plan on having children. I have felt this way for years. The 1st surgery, my doctor wanted to give me time to think. It's been 2 years, and I'd rather have my health than a baby.

The choice to have or have not a hysterectomy is only your. Having a total hysterectomy i.e. remove not only your uterus but your one left good ovary might result in menopause symptoms like hot flashes and other problems. You might consider leaving part of the ovary to prevent you from going into a difficult menopausal period, though have no idea how old you are. As to the insurance you better find out before or postpone your surgery till you have all the facts before you. Good luck.
Reply:leave only a piece of one remove the rest you will still get your what you need with out supplerments or patches if they can leave enough of it to work good luck.....

Ovarian cysts?
I was told that an ovarian cyst can cause pregnancy tests to show up as positive. I've already asked this question once but only got 2 answers and I would really like some feedback before my OB/GYN appointment. Please, I am really worried. I just want to know if the cysts can cause the positives. So far I've gotten 2 no's but would like some more opinions. I'm praying my friend is just an idiot and doesn't know what he's talking about.
Ovarian cysts?
The only thing that will cause a positive test would be the hhg hormone is present in your body, and the nly way for that to be present is to be pregnant.
Reply:your friend is an idiot and doesn't know what he's talking about. a cyst will not cause you to get a positive pregnancy test. being pregnant will, and there are certain medications (not common ones) that contain the HCG hormone that can also muster up a false positive, but an ovarian cyst will not.
Reply:ovarian cysts can not cause a positive. the only thing thta can make you gt a positive is if there is hcg present in te urine
Reply:doctors perform a pregnancy test to determine a corpus luteum cyst, as a positive test can indicate the presence of the cyst. i'm really not sure how this works though.
Reply:I just had a miscarriage in November and went to the Dr to get tests run as to why I miscarried. Turns out I have PCOS (polysistic ovarian syndrome) and a high level of this certain horomone (I forgot which one it is) that causes me to miscarry when I become pregnant and could also cause me to have HGH in my system causing a pregnancy test to be positive even if I'm not REALLY pregnant. Ask your Dr about it at your appt. Good luck.

Ovarian Cysts?
I called my doctor today about some pretty bad cramping. I am on the third week of my first pack of birth control as well. She just started me as an attempt to get my periods straightened out. The nurse told me that my ultrasound had shown a small cyst on my right ovary. My question is if anyone else has cysts how long does the pain last. The nurse told me that maybe it was dissolving as I have had some bleeding and some clotting coming out. It just seems that the pain continues and I was not sure how long was normal.
Ovarian Cysts?
It can last a while. It is according to how big it is. I have had them for about 14 years. It can last (the pain)anywhere from a day to 4-5 days. You can take 800 mg of ibuprofen and then alternate Tylenol. Don't take the ibuprofen more than twice a day or more than 1600 mg in a day. Taking a hot shower or fixing a hot pack and putting it where it hurts will help, too. That is all the thing my doctor told me to do. The birth control should have it cleared up soon. It made mine go away. I found out I had them when I was 15 yrs. old and my doc gave me BCP. They worked good until I had to stop the pill because of poor blood circulation. Watch out for that. I only weighed 105 lbs. so you don't have to be overweight to get it. Most people don't have any problems! Good Luck! Hope the cyst go away.
They have to be really large to have to have surgery! Don't worry!
Reply:There are normal cysts that form on a woman's ovaries every month. They decrease in size when your period begins. However, keep a close eye on any cyst that is found to monitor growth.
Cyst pain varies from woman to woman. Some women experience no pain, while others can experience pain for several weeks. If you pain continues too long, make an appt. with your Gyn just to be safe.
Reply:i had a similiar situation but mines was caused by PCOS i have little holes cyst on on my ovaries, I had the real bad pain and cramps but mines got so intense i had to be rushed the ER. you may want to get checked out more. if you have abnormal periods thats a sign of PCOS but who would know till you get a full check up. Hope everything turns out fine.
Reply:Anything can be normal. Most cysts disolve when you get your period but the few that don't then occasionally you need surgury to remove them. As for the pain. It can last a couple of weeks but I would say if it lasts a month to call your doctor back.
Reply:When I was first put on birth control. I started developig cysts on my left ovary. My period lasted for 15 days and I was in the most excruciating pain for atleast a month. Eventually after my gyno realized the cysts werent going away he did a Laparoscopy (out poatient surgey) to biopsy the cysts. After the surgery I was pain free and permenately taken off birth control they decided I must have been allergic to it. You might want to talk to your doctor about the surgery or get off the BC.
