I have 3 ovarian cysts, and had a rather large amount of water-like fluid mixed in with with a little blood...

"come out", like when you menstruate. It lasted for 2 weeks. I thought that maybe 1 of the cysts filled with fluid drained itself. (1 cyst is a solid mass and the other 2 r filled w. fluid). 1 of my docs said that couldn't have been the case, but another doc said it could have been very likely that that was what happened. The docs are both internists and the next avail. appointment w. my Obgyn at the clinic is 3 weeks away. I should maybe also mention that I have severe endometriosis and have had several cysts removed surgically in the past, though the reason for the surgeries were not the cysts. The last time I saw my Obgyn at the clinic, he said I should have a hysterectomy done, but I'm afraid of another surgery, especially because I almost died after the last one because I have blood clotting problems, and it didn't stop bleeding internally until the very last second. Any prof. advice because I am very nervous about my visit to the Obgyn which is almost 3 weeks away. Thank you.

Reply:The best advice that I could give would be to stop worrying until you see your specialist.

There is no point in worrying for three weeks, you'll only become more and more anxious and nervous.
Reply:If you haven't already done so, call yur Ob/Gyn and explain to them that it's an emergency. They'll squeeze you in... but they can't do that if you don't say why you need the earlier appt!

Also, I'm not sure where you live, but here it is Sunday afternoon. If I were you, I would call them first thing in the morning Monday (like, the MINUTE they open). A lot of doc offices will reserve a few slots for "day of" appointments. But timing is very important -- don't wait even 5 minutes after they start answering the phone. You want to reach them before everyone else does!

Never wait when you have something urgent like this going on. Good luck. :)
Reply:Oh wow...im sorry for you health problems. I have something like that but not nearly as serious. I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. It was about a yr when I found out because I suddent stopped getting my period..and it lasted for 6 months. At times I would get this weird lil bloody mixture coming out and was told that was my body "trying" to ovulate but since I had the cyst it couldnt.

I hope there is something other than surgery that can be done. If I had a horrible experience with surgery like you did I'd be scared as all living hell to have another one too. If its not life threatening and doesnt bother you horribly ..perhaps you could just live with it. Its a hard choice either way but I wish you the best.
Reply:I get ovarian cysts also, and yes I can tell you for a fact, that they can burst, and drain. My daughter had one, but didn't know what the pain was from(you probably already know how bad they hurt when they burst), I took her to the nearest hospital, and they rushed her into surgery, and removed her appendices, only to find her appendix was fine, what really happened was a cyst on her ovary burst, and a lot of water %26amp; puss pooled in her pelvic area, which they had to clean out, I would not trust the doctor who tells you, that they don't break %26amp; drain on thier own, they do, and it hurts like hell. P.S%26gt; I also have endometrious, and I have decided not to have a hysteretomy, it might be the wrong choice, but a friend with enometrous had the hystrectomy, and it did not help her.
Reply:I have a girlfriend who's situation sounds very much like yours. She also had fluid from her cysts that "leaked" out and was assured by her ob-gyn that this is very normal.

As for your doctor's suggestion about having a hysterectomy....a hysterectomy should only be performed as an ABSOLUTE last resort, and even then, you should seek a 2nd and possibly a third opinion. Especially given your blood-clotting problems.Don't make such a life-altering decision based on one doctor's advice...seek another ob-gyn who specializes in treating women with endometriosis.
Reply:my mother is going through the same thing....i don't know anything about that stuff though.
