Ovarian cysts???

I have this feeling in front of my rt. hip bone like it feels tight and it goes all the way up my rt. side. It doesn't hurt, it just feels tight. I feel as if I'm trying to start my period w/ low-back discomfort (not really pain) and I feel as if I have to go to the bathroom. I have a little discharge and when it gets like 4-5 days before my period I have spotting. It burns sometimes when I urinate. I have breast tenderness like 1-2 wks. BEFORE my period and then about 1 week before I start the breast tenderness goes away.

I've been tested for all STD's which were negative. I've had a Pap smear in the last 2 mos. and it was negative. I was checked for HPV and that was negative. I do have an ovarian cyst on the rt. side. Can that cause all of these symptoms? I had an intravaginal ultrasound and everything looked good i.e. uterus, cervix and ovaries, except this small cyst. The doctor assured me that everything was fine and the cyst would go away on it's own. Anyone else have these sx.

Ovarian cysts???
yes i had my fair share of them. i have to be extra careful and see to it that i have reg. exams. my mother was on a medicine when she was preg. w/me that later on scientists discovered that particular medication that prevents miscarriages causes ovarian uteral cancer in that female fetus. oh lucky me!! anyways heres some info for you on symptoms....

Symptoms

Functional ovarian cysts usually are harmless, do not cause symptoms, and go away without treatment. Ovarian cysts are often discovered during a routine pelvic exam.

The larger the ovarian cyst is, the more likely it is to cause symptoms. When symptoms occur, they may include:

Frequent urination, if a large cyst is pressing against your bladder.

Abdominal pain.

Menstrual period changes.

Weight gain.

More severe symptoms may develop if the cyst has twisted (torsion), is bleeding, or has ruptured. See your health professional immediately if you have any of the following pain, shock, or bleeding symptoms:

Sudden, severe abdominal or pelvic pain

Nausea and vomiting

Sudden faintness, dizziness, and weakness

Vaginal bleeding or symptoms of shock from heavy bleeding (hemorrhage)

There are many other conditions that cause signs or symptoms of a functional ovarian cyst. This is why it's important to have any unusual pelvic symptoms checked and to have regular annual pelvic examinations.
Reply:cysts are little fluid pockets that appear. Yes they usually go away on there own, most doctors prescribe birth control to help with these symptoms. I am sure he did the ultrasound to rule out endrimitrious( sp sorry im still waking up lol)
Reply:I have had ovarian cyst before, a few different times, and yes sometimes they do go away on their own, an some do not,Some need to be removed. And yes they can cause all the problems you mentioned an more, mine got so bad I had them surgically removed an then also had hysterectomy. Some I had did go away on their own but some were stubborn, I guess, an had to be taken off.
Reply:I had an ovarian cyst on my right ovary in 2001 and it wasn't a pleasant experience. I never experienced any hip pain or unusual back pain, but I did cramp like crazy on my right side during my periods (god awful cramping!). Mine was a fluid-filled cyst that was drained, so I'm not sure if we have the same kind of cyst, but once I had the fluid drained the cyst went away and so did the cramping. I would recommend telling your doctor EXACTLY where the feelings are, what they feel like, and any other information that might help him/her make an accurate diagnosis. Your doctor can't help you properly if you don't tell them EVERYTHING. I hope that this offered some help. Good Luck!
