Pregnancy and cysts?

i have already had my left ovary removed due to problems with cysts i am about 8 weeks pregnant and had a sono a few days ago and the nurse said i have a very small cyst on my right ovary is that normal during pregnancy she told me not to worry but i am....she said it just means my hormones are doing what they are supposed to but that doesnt make me relieved. should i be worried?

Pregnancy and cysts?
I am not pregnant yet though I will be trying shortly. I just went to the er yesterday because of extreme abdominal pain. Turned out that I have a cyst in my uterus. The doctor said I will be fine (thankfully) and that it will not affect future pregnancy. She said they are normal and the reason the pain was there is because the cyst tend to burst...in some women they simply go away. She also said that at times when you are pregnant that cyst may be there but they won't do any harm to the baby or to you. They are simply "hanging out"....Please try not to worry. Everything will be ok.
Reply:I was in a similar situation (about 15 years with ovarian cyst problems) except that I have never had an ovary removed. I had an ultrasound when I was 5 weeks pregnant because of the pain and they needed to make sure that it was not ectopic. I just had several cysts. They were surprised that my left side hurt more than the right as the right side's cysts were larger.

They also told me it was normal to have cysts during pregnancy. They also come and go normally, just most women don't seem to have the same issues. Once I knew that the pregnancy was not ectopic I felt better.

However even though technicians and nurses know a lot and can do much to help you go ahead and bring it up to your doctor the next time you have an appointment. Otherwise you will probably still be worried when you would otherwise be enjoying your pregnancy. And Congratulations!
Reply:It's totally normal!!!! Please don't be worried. The cyst forms on the ovary that releases the egg, and it is essential to the early development of the pregnancy. As my doctor put it, removing the cyst would terminate the pregnancy. (Every pregnant woman I know has had one. Corpus Luteal cyst or something like that.)

You'll be fine! Congratulations!
