Can Cysts kill people?

My girlfriend has the idea in her head that a cyst can kill you. She is prone to the infection by cysts, basically making them able to appear some. She thinks it is making her body rot it self out basically. Like it is eating itself away. She claims a doctor told her just because of these cysts that it can kill her. Problem with that is, i ahvent heard her say anything about them on organs or vital areas. The last ones i saw were on her thighs. So can cysts kill you by having the infection that causes them in your blood? Does the bacteria or whatever the reason people have cysts get in your bloodstream and kill you?

not all are.They can be filled with air,blood,or liquid and can even be cancerous or even be a parasite I have benign cysts in my abdomen/pelvic area.They could put extra pressure on organs.I would'nt even know they were there if it hadn'tt been for an MRI Report It

Reply:It's so unlikely that one would die from a cyst that's I think it's safe to say it couldn't happen. Even with a ruptured cyst of the type your girlfriend has on her thighs, the most that is likely to happen is reinfection and more cysts.
Reply:From what you are describing it sounds like your friend may be suffering from Hidradenitis Suppurativa - it manifests itself as boil-like lesions that form on the ****, inner thighs, groin, armpits and/or under the breasts.

If it is HS that she suffers from, it is not contagious or deadly. However, if a secondary infection sets in (such as cellulitis), then the infection could get into her body systems and blood and kill her. Luckily, cellulitis is easily treatable with antibiotics.
Reply:I believe that cysts will not kill anyone. I have cysts on my liver and that is very common. I have had ovarian cysts and needed to have an operation, as they 'got bad'. I had polycystic breasts, but, they cured themselves, it seems. Now, I have cysts around each nerve in my spine. This, was discovered yesterday, with an MRI. The cysts do cause pain for me, on my spine, causing leg, arm, and back pain. I don't expect to die from them, though.
