Ovarian Cysts - Medical Professionals Please!?

I have had a few ovarian cysts over the past few months... I ruptured one in november... and my husband had to take me to the ER on our honeymoon because one was so painful... this particular cyst didn't rupture, and hasn't yet... its still painful at times, but no where near where it was on our honeymoon... we've been married 2 weeks, and i'm terrified that if we have sex it will irritate the cyst again... What is the risk of that? My poor husband is afraid to touch me, because he thinks that he'll hurt me... but i'm afraid that it might rupture the cyst or at least hurt VERY badly...

are there any medical professionals on here who actually KNOW, not just bored 12 year olds spouting crazyness?

Ovarian Cysts - Medical Professionals Please!?
Honestly, this is not the place to ask if you want to talk to a doctor! That is not responsible. There are some doctors and nurses here but if you want professional care, go to a professional not a chat web site.

That said, I don't see how sex could irritate the actual cyst, but if you're in pain then it might not be fun for you. Why don't you SEE A DOCTOR about the cysts? What did they say at the ER, was it big enough to need to be removed? Have you tried Naproxin or similar anti-inflammatories for the pain? Did they do an ultrasound? Usually cysts go down by themselves, but there is a possibility of this one rupturing too. And when they rupture there is a risk of adhesion. So if you're worried see someone. You could try sex but if it hurts stop.
Reply:i had pain like you have experienced and spent numerous day in and out of hospital, my cysts were bleeding, and that causing the pain.

After numerous months of pain and pain, my cysts where getting bigger to the extent that my doctor sent me for tests for pcos and insulin resistant diabites.

anyhow mine are now gone at it look long enought 6 months, i had 11 on right ovart and 9 of left ovary.

take some pain relief, tey getting back to normal, and if the cyst rupture that is better then, having the cyst grow and worry you as it did me
Reply:That is a difficult question to answer. Many factors play a role, nature of the cyst, size of the cyst, etc... Are these cysts, cyclic and related to your periods? Is your treatment causing the cyst to return to it's normal size or is it still enlarged, getting larger, or no change in size.

Body positions, penis size, force during pumping activities, your sexual history all play a part. You may want to try being on top, that way you control the amount of pressure, depth of thrusting, and eliminate abdominal pressure by avoiding your husband form being on top of you. Any specific questions, drop me an E-mail. Hope this helps.
Reply:I'm not a medical professional, but someone who has suffered from cysts.

The best thing for you to do would be to make a doctor's appointment and get the appropriate testing (probably including an ultrasound) to make sure all your cysts are gone. If they aren't, the doctor can give you a good idea of the risk of another one bursting.

I ultimately wound up having surgery for mine, but I had a rare type that doesn't tend to reoccur. If the type you have is more common, or you get it a lot, sometimes they can be controlled by taking hormonal birth control. Ask your doctor about it.

Good luck!
