Can anyone help me regarding the following. When I got my ultrasound while being pregnant with my daughter, I was advised I had a cyst on my left ovary. Nothing could be done as I was pregnant and not a big cyst at the time. This was 3 years ago now, and in the past couple of months I have been getting very sore cramp (not like period pains), but i'm doubled over I cant move. Sometimes after sex it can make me feel like this also. Does this sound like it could be related to the cyst at all, and what would the symptoms be if it was a cyst? ................ Please dont write go to the doctors, cause I know that, just want bit of advice first. Thanx
Women only!!! Cysts?
The symptoms do sound like cysts ...and as you can see from all the women who have answered already the common advice is to get a scan arranged to see what is going on and if you need treatment. The last thing you want is emergency treatment , so get it sorted before it goes that far...good luck.
Reply:Yeah, it definitely could be! If it was a fibroid, it could still be there and it may have grown, etc. I have polycystic ovaries, and a lot of times if one gets large, I get the same exact sensations.
Reply:I had some ovarian cysts and it turned out that I have endometriosis, which actually causes infertility in most cases... so you're lucky that you've already had a kid! But, yeah, go to the docs. :) If you are in pain, you need medical attention. They'll probably do a laparoscopy on you (which is a very minimally invasive surgery) for diagnosis, though, which requires general anesthesia...
But don't worry, many cysts are benign!
Good luck!
Reply:It COULD be caused by your ovarian cyst. My sister had one as well. Emergency surgery had to be performed when she showed up at her doctor's office literally doubled over in pain. Please don't delay in seeing your doctor. Cysts can burst, releasing deadly toxins into your body. Time is of the essence here.
Good Luck.
Reply:two answers for you
1, I collapsed at work hadnt been feeling unwell but was in severe pain I was taken to hospital and was told I had an ovarian cyst that had burst but it was ok cause it was only a small one and they are common.
2, My sil collapsed 2 weeks later with same thing but hers was much bigger and was told if she hadnt got to hospital and it had burst she would have most likely died she had to get op to remove it.
We both had to get ultrasound to find out where and how big it was.
Reply:Yes it definitely sounds like it is related to the cyst. I also had a bunch of cysts diagnosed a couple of years ago. I didn't know about it until one did burst. The symptoms (excruciating, cramping pain like you describe and a faint feeling) started one night after sex and the pain was so bad that I passed out and had to be taken to accident and emergency. Luckily it was only a small cyst, but I was monitored for several months until the cysts had shrunk, and luckily it had no lasting effect as I managed to get pregnant 18 months later. Do get it checked out ASAP as it could be a more serious one. I wish you well.
Reply:i have just come out of hospital because i started to bleed badly and i had to have a ultrasound and they have told me that i have got two 2cm cyst on my ovary. and i have got to have them removed . and one of my symptoms was cramp . there is a web page you can go on . i went on when i got told and it has help me . just but in cyst on ovary
Reply:when i was pregnant my daughter is now 4,they found i had a cyst on my left ovary, when my daughter was 6mths old i had an ope and had the cyst, ovary and my tube removed,my cyst was the size of a big mellon,so you havent been back in three years,no scan to check if its grown,if i was you id get in touch with your doctor and tell them you want one,im back at the hospital in feb as ive been having pains the other side this time its polips.you need this sorting good luck xx
Reply:It definately sounds like it could be related. I am currently off work with severe pain and the hospital say i have a cyst on my left ovary. the pain however is on the right side and as of yet they have been unable to locate the right ovary. If the pain does not subside i would ask for a referal to a gynae consultant as if your pain is anything like mine it needs to be sorted.

Here's a website about cysts. Hope that helps.
Reply:cysts usually go away on their own (so i was told, because i suffer with them - i have polycystic ovarys) but it could be that you have got another one and this is causing the pain, because i know how painful they are. the best thing to do is to see your gp and ask for a scan so they can check and see if you have other cysts, i had a transvaginal scan to find mine. probably not the answer your looking for but the better you get it checked the sooner you will know what the problem is. good luck.
